Oil screen

Anyone know if the oil screen housing can be split in half for proper cleaning of the screen? It appears that the two plastic pieces that make up the housing have been pressed together, but unsure if they have been permenently bonded. Some preliminary prying without success caused me to stop and seek answers.

I want to do a detailed cleaning as the remains of a badly damged O-ring fell out the bottom of the screen assembly! Don't know where the ring came from, but it looks like it had quite the tour through my engine before arriving there!

Thanks in advance for your reply(s)

If it comes apart, hell if I know how to do it and I tried too. I thinks it is glued together. Wash the pickup tube out with brake cleaner from the engine side and also blow it out from the engine side. Use the whole can of brake cleaner to make sure you get it good and clean. I couldnt believe how much crap was in there.
If you have had the pan off before, that oring you found could be the one that goes up into the hole in the engine that the oil pipe nub rests in. If you look up there it should be a thin black oring. I think it's purpose is to keep the tube from vibrating in the hole.

Yep thats a pretty lame place to put an o-ring, theres no groove, lip or anything to hold it in place. You just have to grease it up and hope it stays there when you put the pan back on. They really could have did a bettert than that
