Typical cops. Sounds like 2 counts of attempted murder, as many have said. Is the dashboard cam available yet?

I recently moved from MI and Yes they will ram you quick. The Romulus Police ram my cousin on his dirt bike because he had rode in our subdivision to get to our house(which was down the street from the trails). They sued and won, the police release to our local paper that it was a young officer's lack of better judgment. Sucks that they would use their vehicle in that manner without having reasonable cause!

Boy you ain't kidding for a second! Now if you have a completely stock bike at least you won't have the fix it tickets. Those are some of the biggest reasons to get you pulled over. He biggest thing here in socal is getting your bike impounded on the spot for no licence or registration. A lot of bikes here are getting towed for that.

UPDATE

Just an update. The police released the unedited dash camera footage to the news. It was on the web briefly before it was pulled. I did not see it however multiple people who did see it report that the trooper following the bike clearly states to the trooper in front of the bike (the one who ran him off the road) " 'officer's name' don't do it, don't do it!" just before he rammed the bike. By the way both the rider and his passenger are healing nicely. The female passenger's hand suffered no permanent damage.

Adrenaline is a nasty thing. Having been involved in pursuits in one of my former careers, I can tell you first hand, that it takes a lot of training/maturity/experience, to deal with that situation. Sadly, these days, the offers that are being "punched" out of the academy have little of any of those things.

Cops are human, just like everyone else. They get carried away, and do make mistakes. And I'm sure that this mistake, at a minimum, will cost the department/state some money. I also feel that what the offer did was egregious enough to warrant his termination. You need officers out there that have restraint. That know the difference between lethal and non-lethal force, and when using either is warranted. Clearly, this offer lacks the ability to make those decisions, gets easily carried away, and does not belong in a police force anywhere.

Cops are trained NOT to make these mistakes. Adrenaline or not, ramming a rider is a deliberate action - there is no adrenaline involved other than 'I'm going to get this fucker, consequences be damned'.

Screw that. That cop can rot in hell. He isn't fit to 'protect' the public if this is how he behaves.

Know the law. If you know the law. And have the right people by you. you can get them fired and suit them for millions. Trust me, I know. I have a friend that this happen too. And the trooper lost his job and the state police was suited. State troopers have even told me that they can lose their jobs. And if they are saying that they are also admitting that they know it is wrong. Why risk the life of a human being over a 200 to 500 ticket. why put other people in danger or even want to hurt the rider over a speeding ticket. This just goes to show you that all they care about is them self. it's all pride and noting else. But how we fight back is we all need to come together and voice how we feel about this, the more people the better chance we have of getting our voice heard. Just like you when you was trying to get the video out. We have to keep this kind of action up.
