Had my first "problem" with brocks today. After rinsing the bike off I let it idle for a few min to dry and it started smokin at the end of ideling it. It started smoking, I shut it off and one of the covers on the springs for the headers slid down and was on fire! I blew it out and moved it up. Just curious but has anyone else had this happen?

DId you rinse it off using gasoline instead of water? I know KTB had it happen to him but assumed it was something wrong with his exhaust.

Good job Brocks, I have to commend you on fixing that man's problem that fast. Now, just think if you would have done half as much with my problem I had with my alienhead then there might not be anyone on this board you dislikes your business. Go Brocks!

Since we have not heard of any problems of this nature in the past, we just tried to set one on fire with an open flame…it won't burn.

From the cell phone photo’s I viewed sent by eklipse636 a moment ago, I believe the white powder marks were created from dried hard water calcium residue (water captured in the spring sleeve and then boiled after the bike started) as opposed to fire—but they do look scary at first!

FYI: our ultra thin wall stainless steel tubing actually glows a dull red in low light at an idle. +500 F will boil the water in a hurry. One shot shows traces of the powder blowing back onto the exhaust pipe; my stipulation is that he took a ride shortly after washing the bike.

There also may also be some type of chemical issue going on? We are going to investigate this possibility with the tubing manufacturer next.

Special thanks to eklipse636 for taking the time to work with us to investigate this issue!!

Brock

Ps. tech73x we try very hard, but we are human and definitely do make mistakes. We have also undergone some staffing changes over the past year to help improve the overall knowledge and maturity of my staff. If you (or anyone else) ever have a problem dealing with Brock’s or if there is any possible resolution to the problem you had-please e-mail me directly with your contact information and I will get with you ASAP. update on the spring header that caught fire. we have come to the conclusion that since i was a dummy and didnt install the red cap that came with the system, that it was allowing more oxygen into the headers, allowing them to get hotter than normal. brock can chime in and give better descriptions if need be, but he went WAY out of his way to help me with my problem!! kudo's to Mr. Brock and his staff! ordered pc today and hope to have it friday.
all in all, the problem was my fault. i didnt think ab putting the red cap in until after i put the bike back together (was in a hurry to hear how it sounded)

im sure there are some that still have not installed the plug that have not burned up the rubbers on the springs. mine never caught fire. maybe it burned up cause you dont have a pc and you were running for minutes at the rpm where they run lean?
