Does 06 tank fit 08 model - see difference
Hey guys,
Bought 06 tank, noticed that it has 3 hose connections on the bottom (w/e you call them), but 08 tank only has 8. Would this be a problem or do I just close the 3rd one on 06 tank and not worry about it?
08 tank fitted (2 rubber hoses coming out of bottom of tank):

06 tank (3 hose connections):

Thanks for the help!

My 06 only had one hose .. My 09 has two ... I'm betting the tank you have is an 06 Calif model ... Just plug off the two extra hoses ...

OK I assume you mean "plug off the one extra hose" not two. Bike is 08 so is using 2 hoses by default. Thanks for the reply Smokin, and eklipse.

Side question, how hard is it to change a tank? How do I get to the bottom of it to attach fuel pump and such? I.e., this is something I can do myself, right, no need for a shop?

Easy as pie ..... Pull off the 2 small hoses ... Remove the 4 bolts that hold down the tank ......
Now lift the rear of the tank and grab the two wiring plugs , one goes to the fuel gauge and the other goes to the fuel pump .. Now unplug them ... Next lift the tank a bit higher till you can see the fuel line going to the bottom of the pump ...This is a bit tricky till you have done it once or twice , press the red clip together that is on the fuel line at the pump ... Use two fingers and press the red clip and pull down ...That unlocks the fuel line ... Now pull the hose off ... Now you can remove the tank from the bike ..

Just curious, the new tank you have in the 2nd pic, is that rust on it?? If it is, might check the inside of the tank for rust

No rust on the outside... but there seems to be rust on the inside of one of those hose connections... sigh... of course e-bay ad said perfectly fine tank..
Alright, what do I do about that?! S.O.S.
