Welcome to my nightmare. I changed rod bearings in my turbo bike 3 times. Each time, the bike would last exactly 3 1/2 runs. On the fourth run, was that familiar rod knock. The first time, I didn't have to pay, except for shipping.
The second time, I had to buy the parts, but the labor was taken care of. The third time, I had to each the entire $6000 bill.
All told, including the purchase of the bike, turbo kit, and repairs, I spent over $30,000. I got back less than half of that when I sold it. I am firmly convinced that there was a pre-existing condition with the casting oil passages on my bike. It was a very low serial number 2006 model.
My dream, was to get back into drag racing after being absent for a few years, and in a big way, with the turbo. I wasted over $16,000, cash money, for less than 25 runs on the turbo bike.
I will never get back into drag racing, or even buy another bike. My back problems have gotten so serious(from a previous injury years ago), that my left leg goes to sleep if I stand to long.
This was my last, best chance to really do it right, and end my racing career with a low eight second pass, or even better, a 7 second pass.
Am I pissed??? You have no idea how pissed I am. I don't blame anyone. But, I wasted so much money trying to make a fast drag bike, and it spent more time in the shop, than I actually spent racing it. I also had bought a very nice trailer, with air conditioning, which I sold, and broke even on.
I think the ZX14 motor is the wrong motor for any serious drag racing with horsepowers over 300. I've seen/heard of countless people that have spun rod bearings, and worse. That being said, the Suzuki wasn't much better. I think the best motor for a funny bike is an old school GS1150, or Kawasaki. I'm talking two valve heads, real old school.
It's much cheaper to make these go fast, and they are somewhat more bullet proof.
If you hvae the money to piss down the drain, go with the ZX14 motor. Why do you think Muzzies pro-stock bike isn't competitive yet?? Because it's hard, and very expensive.
I'm better now, thanks for letting me rant.

My turbo Busa was trouble free at 418 RWHP. you just had to tear it down every 18 months and change the rod bearings. other than clutch plates no problem.

good news got it tore down and all the bairings look good
it had i slight knock and the oil light was flickering i thought rod bairing glad it wasnt didnt mind taking it apart atleast i no and i was having heating prob. so now i can change the head gasket i think the oil got so broken down from getting hot is why the loss in oil press.and that cuzed the oil light to flicker

At least put new bearings in it and plasti-gauge them to see if they are in spec. Pull the balancers out and put the dummy shafts in. more oil pressure and ge a schnitz high pressure relief valve. Flute the rod oil passages on the crank too. I used a cometic thin head gasket and put valve springs in mine while it was down. I was told the the Turbo 1000 that won in the AMA dragbike superstreet last year had to have new rod bearings every 30 to 40 passes. Just what I heard.

Loose the balancers you want even notice them gone. There is no way I would put it back together with the same rod bearings. New ones are $11.28 each online. If it was knocking it wasn't to come in I bet if you plasti-gauge the bearings they will at the very min. be on the edge of being too loose if not out of spec. How did your main bearings look? do any of the rods have any heat discolor?.

Yes, check your pump!
Also Will, really watered down oil is usually from gasoline.
Maybe you were hearing bad detonation, and washing a cylinder?
Are the plugs good ? good spark?
Just throwing things out there, hard to help from here...LOL

here is the plate I took off mine with 10,000 miles.
Always had lots of good oil in it.
amsoil after 700 miles in the bike and changed every 1500 miles
The washer was not thick enough to keep the impeller off the plate.

here is the new pump assembly, for comparison with the old plate.
When I find the old pump assembly I will post pics of how pitted it was from the shiut running through it.

Its actually worse than it looks, and the onset of damage like this only gets worse, kinda like a scorred cylinder, starts off small, then propogates until catastrophe.

Did you have the basket out? You have to be very careful to line the oil pump drive gear on the basket to mate with the pump gear. This is especially true with the 06-07 two piece drive gear. I have seen them with the pump gear broken from where the basket was torqued down against it not aligned up! .........................Bill
