Replacement Tires Suggestions

Need a rear tire to replace my original in a few miles. What are the suggestions? I ride everyday in MI in the summer month-over generally straight, pothole filled, sandy, crappy, thanks for wasting my tax dollars, roads. I'm thinking Dunlops.....

I replaced the OEMs with Michelin's Pliot Power 2CT and just love them.
They are dual compound so the center has harder rubber for longer life, and the sides are softer for better grip when leaned over.
It would be best to have the same brand of tires on front and back so I would recommend you replace the front even if it isn't worn out. I've heard too many stories of riders having the front wash out on a hard turn because they had different rubber compounds on front and back. That's my

Thanks - for the info, worth more then 2 cents! - They look great. I thought the same about replacing both, but the shop I use told me I didn't need to. I think it would be best to replace both anyway. Have you (or anyone) mail ordered, then had an independant shop or friend with a tire changer put them on?

Pilot road 2CT's, not as soft at the powers and unless your canyon carving every day the roads will do the job just as well plus get better mileage, my 2 cents!!

I have, I purchased Michelin's Pliot Power 2CT off line and had my local shop remove the old tire, and put my new tire back on(with balancing). They charged me $30 for the service but I'm living down in Florida now. I recently moved from Detroit(this past October) and I can say, I didn't miss that last winter... ride safe and watch out for the pot holes!

I agree, one the Best all around tires on the market. There are others too but

Michelin is my favorite for the street and wet weather.

M3, Dunlop Road Smart's, Michelin Road 2's will all wear real good, but if you need better grip, Michelin Pilots's, 2CT's.

Any will do just fine, if your not SUPER aggressive.

Power Pilots...3rd set to date. Easy tire to change due to soft composition. Expect 6K miles. Tire Express has best package pricing.

LOL,
Not mine!

2CT's ridden without mercy, and no burnouts except to finnish the tire off.... 2500 miles tops for me

I still love them though.
If I was doing a 2000 + mile trip, I would spoon on the Michelin Road 2,
and for over 5000 miles you might want a pirelli strada.... not the most grippy tire, but nice to know it will take the mileage on a vacation.

I agree that all highway will eat a PP in 2,500 to 3K miles. Best tire IMO for grip and traction.

Michelin Pilot Road 2CT will go 6K with no burn outs. Good traction in mountains
wet or dry. Pilot Power 2CT grip better but are gone in 3K.

I've got Roadsmarts myself. From what I hear, you can't go wrong with Pilot Road 2s either.

Wow! 1,800 out of stock tire. How do you guys measure a tire's "end of life"? At 1,800 the PP still has a crown for me; no center line flat spot at all.
