need some advice
okay my problem is with my gearing i got a 42 , 44 , and a 45 . im about 230 geared up . with the 42 it felt like i needed some more gearing. so i tryed the 44 and 45 i skiped the 43 since almost all the 14 around me are uses the 44t but with the 44 and the 45 the bike goes right up at the track about a four oclock it even goes a little more dont like the feel of the wheely. im at 65 an a half inches long . should i go longer or try fanning the clutch some ? aint you suppose to release the clutch fast and pinn the gas asap with the 44 and 45t.

My friend can launch harder than me at the track. With him ridin my 14, he wheelied it pretty bad when he went full throttle. I had it at 7" over stock with 16/44 gearing. He had to get out of the throttle and get back in it.

Don't wish to be critical but isn't it more a case of control rather than gearing? There are riders in my club who think a wheelie is obligatory and part of the spectacle of sprinting but they will never achieve their true potential that way.

We weigh the same and I have the same issue with the 44t if I go wot coming off the clutch too soon. A 68in wb would fix the issue for me but I dont want to be over 64.5. The 42 gives me the same but more consistent times as the 44 because I can stay on the throttle wide open. If I made even the slightest mistake with my clutch hand with the 44t it was up in the air. Usually late at night when I was getting tired. After a busted pan I ain't going that route again. If you want to make the 44 work just learn to stay on the clutch longer or lengthen the wb.

Is your suspension set up correctly also? How low are you? Stock shock or aftermarket?
I am 220 suited and run 16/46 at 64 1/2 wb. What works for me was getting the bike as
low as possible and tuning the suspension. I also let the clutch out very quickly and
use the gas for wheelie control. This may or may not be apples to apples but I hope
this helps. In the end you have to do what works best for YOU!

I ran that setup at about 63.25", and your weight. Best of 9.30 and 1.49 60 ft. I am an average rider, there was more in it than that.

Run the spring all the way firm and set the compression (top screw) 1/2 to 3/4 from full hard and the rebound screw to full hard. Thats where mine wheelies the least.

If you dont have a strap then set the rebound (top screws) to full hard. This will slow the unloading (extension of the forks) when you launch. It does not work like a strap but helps a little.

Yeah, you are throwing way too much clutch at it. What rpm you launching at, 6000? Try 4500 and stay on that clutch.

i hate to say it but i think it would be easier to ride with the stock gearing. adding teeth to the rear is going to make it come up quicker. suspension setup is critical as well. stiffer in the back or get someone to help you set it up. we have some suspension gurus locally (chad) and it will make a big difference to get it set up right.
