need power!
Need some suggestions to get more power. I have an 06 with BMC race filter, Muzzy exhaust, flies out. Had a custom map done on the dyno and pulled 168.5h 98.7t @ 97F 30.45Hg 33%. Dyno operator says I need to ditch the Muzzy exhaust to get more power. My goal is to put 200HP down, naturally aspirated. Is that realistic and with what mods?

That's low dyno numbers, the bike should make those numbers bone stock off the showroom floor.
With your mod's you should be in the 178-low 180's HP range and 105+ torque.
To get 200HP, likely would need some head work or a bigger bore kit.
Running MR9 with what you have should put you around 190 HP. I really think your dyno numbers are wrong.

The muzzy makes plenty of power. Remember, dynos are simply measurement tools, and numbers are completely different from dyno to dyno. There might be something wrong with your bike, but I doubt it. Get some nitrous and that will do the trick for $300.

MR9 will give that much more? I have never tried it because of cost but might do it this winter if I can find it around here.

The dyno operator said mid 160's to 170's was average for 14's with similar mods on his dyno. Its a DynoJet 250i.

I have a custom map with a full muzzy system, bmc race filter, emissions removed, and aftermarket velocity stacks. My bike is only turning 100 ft/lbs and 170 hp.
The funny thing is, with just a muzzy map on the bike (stock filter, stock velocity stacks, and emissions still in place and a set of gutted 08 GSXR 1000 canisters on it as slip-ons, I ran 106 ft/lb and 174 hp on the same dyno and under very similar conditions as far as weather goes.
go figure....

I think it depends on your dyno. Find a high reading dyno for your baseline bike and you may be able to get close or there.
Find a lower reading dyno, eg one that baselines your bike in the high 150's to 160's... and I don't think its gonna happen.
You may only gain a few HP from a pipe exchange.. and then again, you may also lose!
Good luck.

Yeah, I know the numbers will vary from dyno to dyno and even day to day. I was thinking most of the posts I'd seen here stated numbers in the 170's and mine wasn't too far off that. I imagine if the ambient temp had been lower it would have gained 1 or 2 also. Has no one done cams or thinner head gasket? I was thinking that direction and maybe some port work while the head was off, but wasn't sure what kind of gain to expect.

Your not going to hit a true 200hp SAE without major motor work.

Damn, Smokin'! I thought you'd weigh in with some good tips. Am I really SOL? Is my only option to call Chris Jones? There's a couple 1st and 2nd Gen Busa's that ride with us and I've never seen the ass end of either. There is a ZX10R that's giving me hell, though!

Well most of what was said is just what i would say ... Don't sweat the dyno numbers .... You could do the thin head gasket and deg the cams , that's pretty cheap mod.. I will be putting an 06 zx14 on my dyno in a few day with a thin head gasket and deg cams and i'll post up the numbers ... The two zx14s on my dyno so far with the same mods made from 175 to 177 hp SAE.. Hope we will see more with the head gasket and deg cams ...

To see 200 and better, u will have to do head, cams and Pistons or stroke. Some guys like piston power, some guys like stroke power. Which ever way u go will give u something north of 200 HP. I have the 2mm ova piston kit. My bike makes 215 HP at the rear wheel but I jus found out that the same mods to a 2nd gen Busa yields 246 HP at the rear for about $800.00 less than the Kaw for the same mods, so the choice is yours. As much as l love Kaws, they aren't thinking about the consumer when it comes to after market HP. Suzuki does. Never owned a Suzuki but it's suddenly starting to look more attractive.
