Anybody using a PC5?????? Help.

As some of you may already know from other posts, my race car which uses a ZX14 engine caught fire last weekend and I need some help re. wires of the PC5 because I had to cut off the connectors since they were so melted together.

The PC5 is fine & I have a new ZX14 harness on the way. What I need to know is what colours from the PC5 go with which colours on the harness (the brown connectors on the harness) I would much appreciate it if someone could have a look at their PC5 plugged in and make a note of which colours go with what.

Any suggestions?

Cheers guys,

Thanks for your help. My email is johnbull@waldonet.net.mt

Heres a pic showing the damage and all the melted connectors. The PCV is virtually untouched as you can see under the side pod on the left of the pic. As I said, the only problem was that I had to cut the wires before the connector because they were so burnt.

The actuall cause of the fire was a problem with breathing. After about 4 laps going hard on the circuit, the engine began to chuck out oil from the crankcase breather (apparently this is quite a common problem and people have suggested that I remove the rubber breather pipe in the sump which is next to the oil pick up)

Once there was enough oil out around the engine it caught fire off the exhaust.

You can see it on this Italian TV program:

www.controsterzomotori.it & go down to video number 9.

The new ZX 2009 engine should be here this week (found one from the US with 734 miles on it)

Im still praying for someone with a PCV to turn up here on this forum!!!!!!!

Cheers,

Josh

John, maybe just a shot in the dark here. Did you try calling Dyno Jet or the place you purchased the PCV? I have 10 more days and I will take pic's when I get home if you didn't have any luck.

Yep I tried calling fuelmoto where I bought the PCV from and they said they dont have wireing diagrams and referred me to dyno jet. I contacted them through their web site but they havent given me a reply.

Thanks AcadianaZX, I look forward to receiving your pics.

Any luck with the pcv? I have my body work off. I'll be trying to get it sorted out. I see a lot of black wires. Hopefully they have different color stripes so I can draw a diagram with pic's also.

Hey Josh, This is what I have. I'm not confident about the black wires. I'm not electrically inclined. I was hoping for the black wires to have strips on them. Hope this helps. I'll have the plugs ready for some more pics till tonight when I start getting the bike ready for the track. Let me know if I can catch different angles for you.

Shot of both male & female plugs from the PCV

Male plug top locking clip side, the black wire going into the white plug goes where the white wire w/ red stripe is in the male plug, that is my muzzy air shifter fuel kill.

Male Plug bottom

Female Plug top locking clip side

I seem to have managed to match nearly all the colours against your photos.

So you are saying the black wire was originally where your W/red (flatshifter) wire is in the male plug correct?

If so, the only other wire I cannot see in your photos is the grey wire. Can you see a grey wire anywhere on your connectors??

Cheers,

Josh.

Hey Josh, Yes that's where the black wire in the white plug was.
No I don'have a gray wire in any of the connectors, just the black with a grey stripe in the female plug.

James,

Have just about finished wireing it up against the photos.

In the last pic (female plug bottom), right hand side one hole up, is that a black & a grey wire both going into one hole??

It looks like that on the pic. Can you pls confirm??

Cheers,

Josh

Thanks James, excellent.

And the black wire on its own is bolted to earth, correct?

Cheers,

Josh.
