Motorcyclist clocked at 185 flees police

Published: Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 5:16 p.m.
OCALA -- An Orlando man clocked at 185 mph on a motorcycle on Interstate 75 on Wednesday is in a local hospital after troopers say he crashed the bike, fled and was eventually caught, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.
Local troopers say Davall Montrell Pinkelton was taken to Munroe Regional Medical Center with serious injuries to his left arm. Officials say the 26-year-old is expected to have surgery on his arm and will be transported to the Marion County Jail.
Pinkelton will be charged with reckless driving, resisting without violence, habitual traffic offender, felony fleeing and eluding and no motorcycle endorsement.
The 2009 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle that he was riding sustained an estimated $1,000 in damages, and was impounded by troopers.
Sumter County troopers say close to 10 a.m., Trooper Miguel Cendan clocked the motorcycle doing 185 mph in a 70 mph zone northbound on I-75 by Mile Marker 332. Officials attempted to stop the speeding motorcyclist, but were unsuccessful.
Sumter officials spotted the motorcyclist exiting I- 75 by State Road 200 heading east.
With speeds of up to 100 mph Sumter officials said the man kept going before crashing the high-end motorcycle into the northeast corner curb at the intersection of SR 200 and Southwest 20th Court.
Pinkelton was ejected from the motorcycle. Apparently unfazed by the crash, the man fled and was eventually caught by law enforcement officials.
No law enforcement officials were injured during the chase. More charges may be pending, officials say.

Well not really a moving violation but you are watching a Felony event taking place and not calling it in. Laws down here are out of control thanks to the stunter punks and street racers.

laws are out of control .. cause government is out of control . its not about safety ... but the average dumbass Americans thinks it is .. i really feel a lot safer knowing cops are writing tickets to street punks instead of drunk politicians...

Speaking of government, Its amazing how many employees close the white house or pentagon disappear every year without a trace. But you only read about cops writing tickets to people for watching racing.......

they are talking about sticking a broom handle in your exhaust in indian rocks to check for a "straight pipe". more useless anti biker laws, but this time brought to you by the harley riders running open exhausts. they will get all our bikes pulled for "aftermarket modifications" which are illegal. hold on!

Holy Cow! I've been up to 140 mph and that's pretty rockin'. 185 is just sick fast. Only $1k damage? Must have dumped it in the grass on the shoulder and then hoofed it. I got pulled over on a routine reg check and the cop actually thanked me for not taking off and running. Seems it happens a lot and in our town there is a no-chase law.
In NY they ARE checking with the rod-down-the-tailpipe action.

It said he hit the curb after going up to 100mph,not that he hit the curb at that speed.Besides who do you think made the estimate?

Funny how they say only 1K in damages. The cops totally exaggerate numbers. On the news the other night a pot field was discovered, something like 2400 plants. The estimated value $3million... please. If pot was that profitable we'd all be growing it!
As for Davall Montrell Pinkelton, too bad he crashed. FHP sucks donkey ass.

If they were all full grown, big plants that $3million could be a low ball estimate. Now if they were smaller, 1 to 2 million is more realistic.
