you're right.
For what it cost to build a motor you could buy a spare and be ready for whatever!
How much timing are you pulling and when?

sound advice.. but i hear no knock and and i'd just changed oil and filter last weekend dang-it
but every oil change i've had aluminium sparkies in my drain pan .. no copper sparkies tho .. what do you use to cut the filter with i screw that up every time .. .. i also done went for several runs already today @10lbs and WOT and no issues .. i think that the way i've dog on it today after fixing hose something would show .. and i'm 1 them guys that if it ain't broken don't mess with it ..
Do you run a lockup?? cause i'm getting aluminum in my oil too. ever since i installed the cycle logic lockup!

yes i run a cycle-logic lock-up also ..its a recent install over heavy springs and spacers .. but i have had the aluminum sparkies in oil before i put the lock-up in it .. but you know it did look like it was heavier or more sparkly the last oil change after i installed it ..

i was running the brock springs with my C.L. lockup and noticed the aluminum in my oil ever since i installed.. take a look @ your inner hub fingers the springs slide over & the outer pressure plate the springs slide into.. I could see there was some coil bind with just the heavy, longer Brock Springs, and the springs were removing material from both pieces.. I called Dave @ C.L. and he is the one that diagnosed it to be coil bind and the funny thing is i was supposed to pick mph with the lockup, but i lost about 10mph.. It was binding so bad, it was working against the lockup.... So i called around looking for a set of stock length heavy springs and found some @ orient express, Installed them and picked up all lost mph and then some.. but i am still getting aluminum in my oil, hopefully it's just left over from the longer springs removing it from my inner fingers and outer basket
LMK what you find or give me a call if & when you get it apart .. i'd like to know if yours is doing the same thing. 217-766-4554 Todd

yes todd my inner hub had been rubbing the springs .. i put a set of stockers in now .. i do have a spare hub but contact looks like it is minimal ..
and it happen again guys hit full boost ..hose broke this time .. so now i found a better type of hose and insulated it with a heat wrap material .. must be this texas heat melting the hose and making it brittle ..
