Removing the Secondaries on the 08' ZX14??

I know that this topic is probably getting beat to death over the past couple of years, but!!
Does removing the secondaries on the 08' prove to be better or no change at all??
Are there any bad or side effects if any to the motor?? And how hard is it to remove these plates?? Guys forgive me for bringing this topic back up in here, LOL.

The reason I brought this up again is, I dragged my bike at the track last week. I couldn't keep the front end down, hence only running a best time of 11.2 @ 133mph. My brother has a front strap and a few other mods running at 10.2 @ 141mph. We discussed taking out the flaps, and his is an 06' I have the 08'. I did search and only found a huge thread on the 06'. This saying no power gain to having power gain, running to rich, ETC....... Mine being the 08' have they worked out the bugs of taking out the flaps?? I will be ordering a Power commander, K n' N' air filter, front straps, and swingarm extenders, along with rear adjustable lowering links in a couple of weeks. Brocks has a good package that they offer with the exhaust, springs and bearings. Keep the shiny side up.

And another thing ... removing the flies on any year ZX-14 will net ZERO power gain, that is to say top end power.

What removing the flies does is expose more of the power earlier int he RPM range.

Knowing what the mod does will answer your own question. If you can not keep the wheel down now as it is, do not remove the flies, it will make it worse.

Like ZXBob said ... master what you got now, then make incremental changes and see what works best for you. (Ok, he didn't really say that in so many words, lol)

Aside from all this, enjoy the 14 ont he track. One place I have yet to venture my 14 into ... yet ...

08 09 leave them in place .... After you max out what you have you can pull them if you like but you will not get much out of it .. 08 09 flys are pretty damn quick to open .. 06 07 is a total different story ..

Wtih the plates removed, I like the "snapyness" in the reving of the throttle and the instant accelloration out of a turn at low RPMs.

Yes a PC3 in a Power comander 3. If you get that Brocks package you were talking about you will get his map preloaded in the pc3 for flies out. And like smokin said flies out of a 08-09 not that big of a difference. But on the other hand you will notice a difference with a full brocks pc3 and flies out. But if you dont want the wheelies right now till you get more farmiliar with the bike before you buy a brocks package.

Thanks for your responses guys. I took the flies out yesterday, and I did notice some difference. But like Smokin and Pazx14 said, it wasn't a huge difference without having a PC3. I'm going to the dragstrip tonight, to see if there is really any difference.
