What is a really good 60' at stock WB ?

Hi Guys,

Most of what I have been reading about good 60' times has been on bikes that have been streched / lowered and re-geared. What is an honest good 60' at stock height and WB strapped?

I have gotten as good as a 1.69 but I seem to hover in the mid 1.70's. I know if I concentrate I can get into the mid 1.60's but it's still difficult after all these years not having you heart pound a little harder when you are waiting on the lights.

It's a fine line between leaving the line hard, and keeping the front end down when rolling out.

When I was at stock wb I could do low 1.6's all day. That was stock gearing. Rear was lowered and front was strapped.

I could get 1.53 but would have to lift, 1.58 would get my fastest times.

My fastest was a 1.55, but i was doing consistent 1.58's stock wheelbase, stock pipes, no flies, 16T front sprocket, lowered on the 2nd hole and a strap.

Stone, factory showroom stock, my best was a 1.62. I ran a few 1.65-1.68's and bunch of 1.70's... I lowered and strapped it after my 3rd trip to the track though. (mind you this was my first bike to ever drag race so i'm sure that it had a lot more in it than what I was doing)

Now that I have the smeg and pc3 on it I have done a 1.51, but botched the run by wheelying. It seems like everytime I run 1.5's now I end up having to back out and the ET suffers. I really need to go back to stock gearing or maybe even -1 in the rear if I'm going to keep it at stock wheelbase. (Either that or stop being a pussy and just ride the fucking thing)

1.49 to 1.53 on average swb, depends on how good of a night's sleep I got. Being well rested and focused is the best thing you can do to improve your 60' times. No magic tricks, just rest and determination.

Beond, you've got to think a bit about the question that you are asking. Are you asking what the 60 ft times are on a bone stock bike, strapped, at stock wheelbase? Or are you asking about bikes set up like ours are at this point? Lighter, much more power to the ground, and down one tooth in front still at stock wheelbase is whole 'nother animal.

Smokehouse, I should have had added a little more detail to the question.

What I should have asked was at stock height, stock wheelbase, just strapped, who's had what luck.

With my bike (stock height,WB, and strapped) being -1 on the front, I think that my gearing might be a disadvantage. I'm getting better at getting more throttle to the ground in first gear, and actually, my retarded technique of once the clutch out and engaged of rolling on the gas seems to be working. Launching at a lower RPM and really focusing on not flashing the rev's as I'm letting out the clutch it a real bitch (old habits die hard) but paid off with improved #'s.

I can't imagine getting into the low 1.6-high1.5's with my stockish set up and weight. Damm scale at the track said 775 lbs for the bike with me on in. I don't weigh 245lbs !!! The scale must have been off a bit. The bike alone was 530 with a full tank.

I would say that -1 is definitely a disadvantage at stock height. hell with your setup it's a disadvantage even with it lowered. I'm having a hell of a time getting mine tamed at stock length with it lowered, strapped, smeg, pc3 with track map, and -1 front.

I ran better at stock height/lowered with stock gearing than I did -1 front sprocket.. Don't know if I ran it for 2 years and was use to it, but I didn't like the -1 front. When it went to wheelie, it came up fast!

Hey Bawls! I hope all is well my man. If you remember, before you dropped it a tooth I warned you that it was hard to handle. I'm proud to say that I am now getting good enough to get it into the high 1.6's. A very good buddy who is 6'6", 200 with gear, rode my bike about five times in a couple of nights. He has several busas, one that he runs in the 8.8's with. He had never been on a 14 before. He said that my bike was the hardest bike he had ever tried to launch. He rode one wheelie at 85 mph all the way through the 1/4. Starter dude wasn't pleased. Then he ran a 9.7 at 146 next run. His 60ft was 1.669. You're right eklipse, when it comes up, it comes up FAST!

before i put the smeg on it i loved the 16t front. It was fucking screaming and i picked up a lot of mph with it. At altitude (i want to say between 4-5000ft DA) i was running 6.40's at 115-116 with clutches that are a little soft already. You were definitely right about once I put the pipe on it though. I consider myself to be a pretty decent rider, but it's frustrating going from running consistent mid 1.5's to jumping into the low 1.6's. I guess i can blame brock for making my bike too powerful :P

Bad Brock for giving us all this power! Beond, I get the feeling that the point of this thread was that you were frustrated with your current set-up in the 60 ft. I think it comes down to the 16t with the added power at stock wheelbase. It is a hard bike to ride. I had been quite frustrated by it. It's such a trade off. Right off the line and on the highway I would like stock gearing. Everywhere else I prefer the 16t. Kind of a pick your poison thing I suppose.

As a side note of interest, the buddy of mine that is such a good rider that I spoke of in an earlier post on this thread texted me yesterday that he won midnight madness. I haven't talked to him to find out which 'busa he was riding, but he said he won with an 8.47 at 167. HOLY SHIT!!!

1.62-1.63-1.64,and lots of 1.66s last time out w/ bone stock 09 lowered 1 hole ,strapped ,on a Full Bore soft tire. If it wheelied hard I rode it through , but I'm
ready for better ,more consistant 60fts too so 8in extensions are on the way ! If I get my wheelies ,and 60fts under control i'm ready for more power! Oh yea, I'm 150 lbs .
