Dyno and Dynojet auto tune
My PVC came in for my 09 zx14 and i have it installed , i will be testing Friday if it doesn't rain ...I also got the Auto Tune set up but have not installed it yet ...I want to make some base runs with just the PCV and Brocks track map before i install the auto tune set up ..
Teddy and myself just took ownership of a Dynojet 200 Dyno that has been upgraded with new software .. It will be a week or so before we have it set up and running ..
Fun times ahead ...

Well i have no 1/4 mile numbers for the 09 zx14 , just 1/8 mile numbers ... The 06 in the heat was 123 to 124 but has been as high as 127 in better air and the 09 does close to the same at 123 in the heat .. I have not run the 09 zx14 in good air yet with the same mods as the 06 ... I'm pretty happy with the 09 so far seeing it had no P/C ...My hope is the 09 will end up faster than the 06 after a p/c and tune ... I think it just might be little faster when tuned ...Fingers crossed ....

It's amazing how close these bikes run to one another in mph. Mine ran 122 to just under 123 weighing just slightly more than your setup (bike/rider), with the street map. Hopefully I'll get to where you're at soon...rained out track days mean I haven't made a pass since April!!
I'm interested in the PCV also, with auto tune. I wonder if I could run one 5 wire 02 sensor and feed both the data logger and the auto tune unit? Does the auto tune wiring look like you can hack into the sensor wiring??

Yes i think you can , it has two harness , one closed with plug ends and the other with open ends ...I have looked at the paper work with the auto tune and pcv and it seems very incomplete ( normal for Dyno jet ) It's going to take a awhile to get it all sorted out and maybe a few phone calls as well .. You could data log the auto tune just to check that it is spot on...But from what i read if you set it at 13.1 you get 13.1 after it goes in learn mode for a few cycles .. You would still have to try a few target A/F ratios to find the best A/F numbers ... You can also map every gear with a different A/F ... It looks to have hook ups for TPS ,Speed sensor and temp ...

Those squirrel basket fans push a large amount of air and are compact. Would be a good test to see how much the ram air helped.

quote: This is the 09 a few weeks back..

Update : Track testing tonight Sat the 20th ... Track temps 98 Deg and about the same for the humidity ...Much worse air than i had back May 15 for the time tickets shown above .. About 15 to 16 deg hotter and more humidity than in May 15 testing..... With Brocks race map and pcv i was able to run two 5.74 @ 123 . I also had a change in fuel from 87 pump in May to 89 pump tonight ...It was so hot all the guys were down on ET and MPH .. Teddy was down 2 MPH over a few weeks ago ...The bike is making more power down low with the mapping and PC and i was having problems keeping the front wheel down .. The two 5.74 runs both were wheely runs and had to trim the throttle to keep from looping the bike ... I had some runs where i wheelied pass the 330 mark and had to abort the runs .. The track went away around 9:00 so we packed it in for the night ...The track got so bad they closed early because it was unsafe ...
So the bike is running stronger mapped but more testing is needed to find out what i really picked up as far as HP .. I need to head down to the 1/4 mile and see what i can get out of it .. Next week i'm going to set up the Dyno Jet Auto Tune and give that a shot ..
I also changed the oil from Mobil One 10w30 car oil to Amsoil 10w30 for bikes ... I just don't have the data to tell if it works better than what i was using ... One difference i can tell you for sure is the Amsoil makes the clutch grab harder and sooner ..The quick grab of the clutch was a real problem for me tonight ... I'm used to the Mobil One that lets the clutch slip a bit more , the Amsoil tossed me off my normal clutch release ...I had the same problem when i tried Brock 0wt oil oil the he sells ...I can adjust to it but it will take some time ... I'd say use Amsoil if you are one that rides the clutch too much out of the hole because it will sure help you get the clutch out faster ...If you have fast clutch hand like me you may want to stick with Mobil One ..
More testing to come ....

Very interesting! I run the 0-20 mobil 1 and like my MPH. The 06 would out 60 foot mine and he runs amsoil 10w40. I never thought of that to be a cause of poor or good 60ft times. Maybe I should try heavier oil and see if my clutch will grab better. I just don't want to kill my MPH. You always keep me thinking, thanks.

keep up the good work. i can vouch for how frickin hot it is you can cut the air with a knife it is so thick and humid. i rolled out at 07:30 this am and had to towel off before i put the helmet on. i am interested in the amsoil as well because it is highly rated and a bit less expensive than the motul 300v i have been using. sounds like the bike likes the mapping and you will have to get used to a little more grab and go.

i just talked to hector with the fjr1300 yamaha, he says if you need a dyno guinea pig he is game. he is wanting to get his bike mapped with his new pipe setup. he pulled the cats and put the dale walker slipons on it. let us know when you are ready for some company. i'm sure you have your hands full.....

Guys i should have added that my 06 zx14 in this heat on pump gas would have been running low 5.80s and once in a great while it would put down a high high 5.70 ..
