Metzler 210 tire on zx14
Had a metzler 210 installed on my 14 today at Tupelo Powersports. THIS THING IS HUGE!I dont know how this tire will hook up but so far so good.It fills out the rear perfectly.Rode around Memphis a lil tonight to get a few miles on it.

u know that a 240 tire will fit on a stock swingarm on ur 14! All u have to do is get the offset front sprocket n its a wrap, 240 tire wit a stock length swingarm! that would look beefy, n dont say it wont handle the same cause unless ur ama superbike rider u wont know the difference!

Thats why Kawasaki puts them on stock / cos they handle so good.

So you would offset the sprocket by how much? One half of the change from 190?
(240-190)/2=25 2.5 CM? about an 1"?
What ever the offset would be, would that cause a poor front sprocket to rear sprocket alignment/problem?

not that i m aware of, sparkling image cycles r doin the kits i believe, mayb even Roaringtoyz, The front sprocket is 1/4" offset just like the regualr 240 kits, this keeps the tire center. A friend put a 240 on his katana 600 (yeah i said it) if u look from the back the tire is offset to the right a little to allow the clearance. I would imagine they do the kit like any other just the swingarm is naturallly wide enuff to fit the 240. Another friend just put a 280 on his Boulevard n it was a bolt on n ride job. it comes wit a 240 stock, one guy has a 300 on his bouldevard n said he had to do slight mods to it to fit

240 rear = no traction if you push it at the track. They do look good though. I guess different strokes for different folks :P. Tell your buddies that their 109's would be faster if they would leave the 240 on them. TNT's old 109 ran 7.40 1/8th miles bone stock all day long on the 240 e-3.

So if I went to a 240, would I also need to offset the front sprocket at well?
How does a 240 on the rear mean no traction on the track? Too much rubber on the pavement?
Are there parts/spacers set for that specific tire change (I have not seen them though I have looked - cept the new rear end kits at 2-3K+)?
I have thought about it on my bike, but mostly to be able to hit it harder in 1 and 2, and have better traction. New tires are coming up this Fall.
Bawls, I did a 250 on the 109 and that'just' madwe it, and also had to mod the underfender.
On this bike I want to stay away from any more moding if I can. Sounds like the 240 would only require a little spacing/washers?

jdc, i dont think the tire they are talking about is a very soft compound. it isnt made for drag racing. yes, im sure the center is wider (bigger contact patch) but more contact patch with a tire that dosent stick dosent necessairly mean better traction

exactly 636... also remember that you're adding a shit ton of rotating mass as well which is going to slow you down throughout the entire run. the name of the game is to lose weight... not add it lol. If you are going to add it make sure that it's in places that will help you and not hurt you. JDC is a special case since he's running a turbo and won't ever be able to use all of the power he has on tap anyway lol. I definitely wouldn't want a tire with a harder compound on a turbo bike though.

I will say that when i first got the 240 it had a metzler me something n all it did was spin as it was more of a touring compound, still got it in the shed, but since i have used the pirelli diablo, AWESOME TIRE! I just put my second one on n an i will say that the tire will hook up just as well as ur 200 or 190s, i will agree of it slowin a bike down though, as too how much i m not sure, but i will b n the 9s as soon as i get that seat time in, Did u know that shinko is now makin a 240 now! Might try it next time but the reviews said it wears out quick on the highway.

A 240 rear will not have ill effects on handling???
AMA rider would only notice the difference???

Ya right - add a 240 rear, you have an out-of-alignment chain/sprocket for one, then you have far less weight /sq inch hitting the pavement, on top of which, the Metz isn't a soft compound tire to start with as it's made for cruisers, not drag or sport bikes. Hell, my 190 PP2CT spins all day long in the street - can't imagine how bad it would be with a misaligned 240 eating chains and sprockets all day long back there.

My 240 is straight, not offset, thats why it came wit the offset sprocket to keep the rear tire true, as far as handling, look at the right up in superstreetbike magazine, the one wit Rob fisher riding a 240 turbo bike on the cover. Dont just take my word for it, lol, read the article! I rode my 12 before the kit n as far as i m concerned i ride the same wit the 240. If you REALLY look at it, its not that wide compared to the fatter tires. I was speaking on everyday riding as far as ill effects, shit, if u have lowered or stretched ur bike it will have an effect, come on give me a break. Since we r on the subject bout handling, there r now stunters doing their thing on 240 wide tire bikes! My wheel is true but If ur chain is str8 then u wouldnt eat sprockets up, whether the tire was offset or not, the chain would still b true right?

Too hype, Tony got a 240 on his zx10, do u think he rides that thing any different that a stocker? I doubt it! Massszx14, if u havent ever ridden one u wouldnt know, ur more than welcome to ride mine if u want, I would luv to hear ur feedback on it afterwards, GOOD OR BAD!

Nah Mo, I would say the 240 dont make a difference to Tony at all. You know we have a lotta guys around here thet have bigger tires than that and still getin it in. They still seem to bang curves hard and ride the tire to the limit (no chicken strips)

Where do you get the front offset sprocket? and other than a 240 tire, any thing else to consider?
Whats a good 240 tire with stick? (I really like the Pirelli Diablo Rossa's stick.)

I don't mind the look of the wider tires, but like steve said, its not worth it to me. Ok, evenif you offset the front sprocket to make the tire fit, you still have the rear sprocket that would need to be offset with it, right? Offsetting just one end of the chain/sprockets dosent make it straight... I will let you guys have the wide tires, and ill keep shooting for the 8's!
