ATP Turbo kit...yes or no?
Buddy of mine is considering purchasing an 06 stage 2 turbo bike with an ATP kit upgraded tial wastegate, bov, rods, pistons{9.5:1 Je's}, undercut tranny, 2 stage lockup, etc...My question is are these good kits compared to the others? Also what should he look for when inspecting the bike?......Bike has about 3000 miles some track time but pictures look nice.
There is no cooling{h20 injection or intercooler} for the charge, what amount of boost can you run on pump? I forgot to ask if any timing had been pulled.

Over all it is a great kit. Great fit/worksmanship. A few things to remember:
It does not come with an exhaust, despite what the internet site says "down pipe or full length tail pipe and muffler". You do get a downpipe. If you want quiet (same power with exhaust-n-muffler), you'll need more $$$,
and, if you want to read your gauges at night, you'll need illuminated guages, or a flashlight.
I really like my setup. Mine is still pretty new.
I believe Bob had a good number of miles on his...
here is some general info I put up on my thoughts:

What color is the bike he's looking at?? I'm wondering if its mine(blue), although I had a 5 stage lock-up clutch on it.
Also, usually timing is pulled with an EFIR unit. It would be under the seat.
Some things to ask/look for is, does it run on pump gas(mine ran on 110+ octane race gas. Also, what does he consider "stage 2"?? Harry never made a Stage 2 to my knowledge.
As far as boost on pump gas, I'd stay at or under 5 to be safe. If it has the EFIR, and it set up properly, you could go to about 7psi. Mine was capable of mid 20's psi, which would be over 400hp. And, mine had a custom clubfoot swingarm from TracDynamics, as well as a bunch of other goodies.

Great kit IMHO !
What iflyems said is accurate... I think you could go 7 psi on pump gas, any more
you better be pulling out some timing.

i hear always about timing pulling ..so i did this as an experiment at the track ..i had -4 and i bump it to -6 lost 4 mph i then bump to -8 and bike couldn't even make it down the track ..i then went to -2 and pick-up 7mph ..i left it there ... but i know at least on my bike -8 killed the power big time ..this was on avgas and at 9lbs

Robert ..... your rite !
You pull timing you loose power, but that keeps it safe on pump gas. (no boom)
Run good fuel and the 14 will handle more than 9 psi.

With any turbo kit, the installer and tuner are 90% of the kit. You have to do it right the first time. Have seen several blogs about what a crap kit is was, almost every brand, and blew up in in a very short time. Truth was they only knew enough to be dangerous.

Bob
after -8 you just don't loose power it can barely move itself down track .. and that be 4th gear and 5th gear .. lower gears seam to be ok with -8 .. so maybe the zx14 is retarded in the higher gears already .. i think i remember guys doing +4 and making gains on stock bikes
