Adding some weight to the front end?
Has anyone else done this to help keep the front end down while at the track on a stock wb bike? If so where did you get the weight, where did you mount the weight and the main thing how much weight did you use?

I run my 14 with stock wheelbase, mainly for top speed runs and occasional quarters. Due to the top speed requirements I am running 17/40 gearing and I don't have the problem of wheelies. It will pull a wheely off the throttle of course but it's easy to launch hard and still control it. (Still in the nines foot-shifting though)
It's worth mentioning that when people fit larger rear chainwheels to a bike with a stock swing-arm it pulls the wheel forward and shortens the wheelbase. If this is your problem you could try getting a link or two more chain next time you replace it. Otherwise it's just seat time and technique.
Nearly forgot to say, have you got the bike lowered? Eliminating rear squat on launch makes a big difference.
There have been some discussions on adding weight. Maybe do a search?

Brocks sells it. Its called a ballast. Great Idea if you are light. It is tough to keep the front down.

flyboy put the ballast on the rear for land speed racing in this thread...same setup as if it were in front.

the brocks ballast is made to bolt to the rear end and provide better grip (through weight) to the rear wheel of a bike with an extended swing arm

I think flyboy used a ballast from someone else or constructed his own, but his system will work on the front of the bike I believe.

You can put wheel weights or similar under your front fender as well. I have a busa fender here that weighs 10 lbs, and made many passes without incident.
Also, filling the front axle with lead will help.

Easy to make a weight , that bolts on header. thats what i did. Hardly noticeable. I had some flat 1\2 inch bar and cut it up and made a vpattern that fit inside the front fairings perfectly. had a small hole in center. Real easy to make. I dont use 1 anymore. This was on a smeg pipe. Now i got a sidewinder. The thing prob weighed 15lbs. Wish id taken pics, it was slick. Cant believe some company isnt making 1 already.
