2009 BMW K1300S
Wow just checked out the 09 BMW K1300S at the local dealership. What a sweet bike! I think Im gonna start saving! About the same size as the 14 but more upright and comfortable seating position. Next is a test ride!

+1
and a real electronically adjustable suspension that allows the rider to change the rear spring's actual rate in addition to preload and damping, although you can make it soft and squishy like an out of the box jap bike too

It is really nice. 185 hp at the rear tire stock.
Ride day past here already.
The price is what holds most of us back.
Fully modded zx14 is still cheaper than this ride you write on.

Actually BMW has been doing a good job keeping there prices more inline with the big 4 IMO. If I was not into the racing so much I would have a look as well.

Fully loaded for 18K is still a little steep. Thats with Traction control, ESA, heated grips, ABS and coolest of all is the "electronic shift assist" which allows you to bang through the gears at redline without using the clutch. Also works at low RPM to.

The bike here is worth $26,000.00 here...
If I had the money after a test drive I would own 1 perhaps.
But I truly love the haul ass feeling I have with the zx14.
If the bike could not match the zx14 kick in the pants feeling, I would not bother with the BMW.
I went the day of a bike ride but I just missed the event. Closed up at 4:00pm.
It was by chance I stumbled upon this.
I was in to repair my helmet communications system.
I would agree the components on the bike are fantastic.
But the price.
oh its on sale!
20,000.00
Check it out...
I do not know how to do the quick links

185 at the rear wheel? Where did you read that? Seems highly unlikely, and a shaft drive has much higher loss than a chain drive to the rear wheel. I think it's more like 145-150 at the rear wheel on a good day, with the wind behind. BWM has never been known for such big numbers in the past. I see 175 at the crank from what I read...way down from the ZX14 @ 198.
The TQ peak also occurs at 8250 RPM, significantly higher than the ZX14, so this bike does not have the power/punch of a ZX14, not even close. It's only marginally higher than the 1200S. It is however, a more refined machine than the ZX14, but the price tag is also much, much higher. It's not designed for the same thing at all. It also won't be winning any races on the strip either...

the BMW is not meant to be a straight line drag racer against the ZX14.
and Cycle World has it tested at 173 at the rear wheel, not sure where all these happy numbers above came from

BMW claims 175 at the crank...Hmmmmm. In any case, I was responding to his claim of 185 RWHP, which isn't quite so...LOL
If it was 185 RWHP, it would be a serious contender against the ZX14.
I don't believe for a second that it has 173 RWHP, regardless of what Cycle World prints...

The dealer stated it had 185 at the rear.
If I am wrong I apologize.
Follow the link above and talk to the salesmen.
I have no reason to mis state what I have been told.
If they lied or were mis informed.
I do not know the specs at this point honestly.
I only sat on the bike and drooled...

185bhp = BULL. SHIT. I am guessing your typical real world '140-ish' after you drag power through a BMW shaft that blows seals every 6000km.
Put an LSL kit on a 14, and see which is the better bike.
