returned to a 14, got me a project

I bought my second 14 after a long spell of Busa's. I bought a crashed 07 SE from a guy who didn't have insurnace on it. It has faring damage all over but runs and drives great and I got the whole bike for $2500. He had hit a dog and went down at about 50 mph. Anyway I have it stripped down and plan on doing a few things to it to make it a nice street bike. I originally bought one of the first 06 14's when they came out. I had a red one. I put a Brock Smeg on it and some roaring toys Ext. lowered, flies out and had it custom mapped. It was a really good street bike and ran good too. At the time I had a 02 Stage 1 Turbo busa for street(252 RWHP) and my 99 Velocity Stage 2 turbo Busa that I used for track use (418 RWHP). So I sold the 14 to a guy that saw it at an event we had a Hubcity Dragway. I regretted it. It is a good all around bike and I had been looking for another one. so now here I am starting to fix this one up. I sold both of the Turbo bikes and tried a 08 Busa, I put the alien head brock exhaust, PC3 and mapped, with some 7" inch Ext. on it. But I never did get used to the ugly tailsection plus I had the Blue one with the gold wheels. So I sold it also. I orded a faring kit and a PC for the 14, next I have to find an exhaust and get some sporckets and stuff that it will need. It's got 5K miles on it. While everything is off I might just pull the motor and put some new fresh rod bearings in it and a cometic thin head gasket. maybe have the trans undercut. My 06 had trouble shifting into high gear on the bottle. I am an autoworker and we are off for summer shutdown for a month so I have the time. I enjoy reading the post and the great Info.

No, the 14 transmission is not undercut.

Just got tired of them. I have 3 girls playing ball and don't have time to go to the track like I did now that they are growing up. They were great bikes. I have been riding turbos since the old days, I had a ATP Turbo 78 Z1R back in the day. A couple of turbo GS1100's and 1150's. 3 Mr. turbo Bandit Suzuki 1200's, 1 95 Mr Turbo ZX11 with the FI kit. and 5 turbo Busa's. Everytime I end up biulding me one somebody buys it off of me. This time I am going to keep the 14. I thought about putting a Turbo on it. My friends 06 Turbo 14 will be complete in 2 weeks so I will see how his does. I will have to say it is pretty fun riding big HP and going over 180mph in the 1/4 mile. But having a smooth nice riding bike to cruise around on is OK to. Check it out, the old turbo Kaw Z1R on 15 lbs. of boost would turn a best of 6.78 @ 113mph back in the day in the 1/8th and that was flying on a streetbike. most modern sportbikes would kill that.

Honestly it sound like you need to step up to JATO's or perhaps a turbine sidecar or something.

Naw, It's all for fun. Once you ride a turbo bike it gets addictive, but after awhile you get used to it and find yourself turning the boost up. I guess it's the thrill factor. Then you turn it a little more and the first of the weak parts start to break. Well you know how it goes from there. MONEY PIT!
