PAIR valve block-off
I just pulled the flies on my 08 and installed a full system and PCV, and while riding I had a lot of popping on deceleration. I just learned that the clean air system may be to blame for this.
I was wondering if it was enough to simply block off the hose in the air box, or if I had to go through the process of putting on reed valve block-off plates?
What all is involved with blocking off the reed valves, and will it cause any sort of errors?
P.S. I only do street riding, if that makes any difference.

Hi DaedalEVE, I'm new to the forum but I had the same problem. I have the PCV on my 07 ZX14 with a Schnitz map and auto tune. I had to plug the hose to stop the extra air coming form that to the exhaust to prevent an overly rich fuel mixture. Hope that helps.

I put in the block offs and I still had some decel pop.
I took my map and in the first column, I just put -20% in for each spot above 1500rpm. I did the same for the second column and anything above 3500rpm. Cut 99% of my decel pop out. I get an occassional pop, but it is few and far between. Haven't noticed any change in power anywhere either...on the dyno or by seat of the pants.
And Acadiana.....the PCV fits the 07? I guess I was under the impression that it was only configured for the 09's and up. What was the cost of the PCV and the auto tune?

Thanks for the input guys. I'll start off with blocking the hose to start (a bag of marbles is really inexpensive), then go from there.
FIFTH, yeah the PCV will fit any of the years as the ignition harness is the same on all the years. You just have to use a map for 06-07 because the injectors and ECU mapping are different. You can easily turn a PCIII map into a PCV. The only difference between the two is that the PCV has a column for 15% throttle. The quick way to put in that info is to use a value that is half way between the 10% and 20% values. That or use an autotune, which will take care of all of it anyway.
DynoJet doesn't tell you that because they want to get rid of their PCIII's.
Oh and FIFTH. When you say you -20% that was the actual value you used? As opposed to subtracting 20% from the map as it was set.

The marble helped tremendously. The only time I get any popping or backfiring is around 3500-4000rpm on decel, which I hear is normal (fuel is cut during decel, then turns back on at 3500).
If I ever decide to get an autotune I could make it perfect.
So yeah.... rock on!

FIFTH, I can't remember the cost but Schinitz Racing sells them and they are very helpful every step of the way. The PCV works great and the auto tune is my best investment for tuning. Started with a Ryan Schnitz map and it learns as you ride. Your bike is set up simular to mine. With the M14 exhaust I ran 145mph at State Capitol Raceway in Baton Rouge with poor riding skills.
DaedalEVE, glad the marble worked somewhat. The Auto tune maybe why I don't have any decel pop after pluging the PAIR Valve.

I actually put in -20 in each of the aforementioned blocks.
