Clutch?

I have been getting my big ass down the 1/4 right at about 139 mph. As I have improved from the mid 10's down to 10.0's, the mph has stayed the same. Last night, I did not have a very good night at the races consistently running 10.2's. Anytime they go from rt at 0.00 to the 0.5 thing it just screws with my head somehow...don't know why. The problem, however, is that my mph was consistently at 135/136. It was hot and humid, but it wouldn't make that much difference would it?

250 in full grear, this is in his signature. Stock wheel base and not lowered and
that much weight low 10's is not bad. 4444 you live in Texas? Johnny Cheese shop is a
good drive from Fort Worth where I am. He tuned a Busa a friend had, ran Smooth he does

I'm 6'4", 230#. 250 fully geared. I've had some folks say they thought my clutch might be going out because of my top end of 139. But Friday night, it was consistently at 135/136. Hot and humid, but that much difference in mph? Just curious.

Next time look at the tach when you cross the finish line. Do you remember what it was before you lost a few MPH? I have lost a few MPH on my FJ1200 when I bracket
raced it on a Hot August night and I had a new clutch. I am about your size too so our clutch works a little harder... :-)

My shift light is set at 11000 (probably a true 10,7 or so) and the light is coming on just as I'm passing through the traps in 4th gear.

Anybody? Does 15-20 degrees extra heat equate to 3 mph loss? Wondering if the clutch is starting to go on the big end.

I think so. I couldnt mph over 145 this weekend either as the temp was high 80's and very humid. 3 weeks ago it was 147. I looked at some tickets from Sept. with the same weather and it was within a half mph. Usually I ask another rider how many mph they are off to confirm. There was nobody to ask .
I want those 150mph days back!!

I did ask a few, and most said it was a rather slow track for them. I'm at 16/41.

Smoke- most people were off between 0.10 to 0.15 friday night, plus we had a head wind too.
It wouldn't hurt to service the clutch just to see how everything is wearing though.
Have you swapped springs or added any spacers to them? It will help some.
I got some for you. Let me know next time you are going to test we can put them in at the track.

I'm going tonight (5/6) just to get in a few runs or ten for an hour or two. A little short notice, but I'll let you know the next time I go. I definitely plan to have Johnny service the clutch when I decide to stretch it a bit. I think its a bit out of tune at this point as well. It dies often when idling after first starting it. Talk to you soon, and thanks so much.
