I would say the answer to that is directly relative to your mechanical aptitude and available tools.

its not too hard, just be careful on where all the small "balls" go.
personally, i would also just send it to fast by gast. its around a 2 week turn around.

r&d does all the prostock bikes you see on tv, including muzzy's zx-14. i saw the tranny from that bike in its infancy.......nobody better

there are a few options....undercutting and cryo-treatments come to mind

FBG = $400 drag cut
$800 back cut both sides for cct racing
You don't need to cryo a 14 transmission, unless your running a car tire and over 300 HP.
Get a billet clutch hub and basket instead... they will break before the tranny ever does.
This ain't no busa tranny.
Nobody has been makiing billet gears for the 14 for a reason.
I had a busa trans out on the bench to compare with the 14 transmission.... no comparison.
As stated by FGB, biggest most stout trans in the industry... they laughed when I asked if I needed billet gears or shafts...
You don't hear of any 14's with slipping 2nd gears or broken tranny's.
Thats the Busa crutch...LOL
