MR9

Guys,
I know this has been spoken about before but. I am tossing the thought around of using MR9 (i do know the benefits) I ran 153 mph on 93 octane last week. Do you think I could run a better mph with MR9? I am running the Brocks map for MR9 with no air filter but a little hesitant about spending $100.00 bucks if I pick up no MPH. I do also know the dangers of MR9.

I usually pick up 2-3 MPH with MR9 using the same map and no adjustments. But just know that if you are facing a head/cross wind when you use it, you won't see chit!!

Your ET will lower with MR9 also. Makes great power, but pricey.

Used it, liked it. Might try a lil more if it was handy, maybe compare to 87 pump gas.

If it is a freshly opened can you can hear the change in the exhaust note, feel the power by the set of the pant, and see better number at the strip. However, if it is old and/or not keep in a appropriately sealable container you will not notice much of anything over what 87 shell pump gas will do.

What about smell? I know with Trick Fuels you can distinctly smell it coming out of the exhausts. Same with AvGas, a good nose can tell it from a ways away. Does the MR series have a unique smell? I'm guessing its the higher octane additives in Trick and AvGas that cause there smell, but it could be a telltale they are required to put in, like the dye in offroad-only diesel fuel.

Oh yeah...you can definitely tell there's something other than regular gas being used when you smell the exhaust. I actually like the smell.

thats why I will not buy it, if a VP distributor would deliver it here, I would use it, they tell me to buy from a dealer, doesnt run any better than pump gas when its bad.

Mr9 is the best but it must be fresh. Don't leave it in your tank overnight. Keep the can sealed air tight. Service life is about 4 days. It helps you set World records. On the strip... ask someone else.
