ZX14 2009 is 81 lbs more than ZX14 2008
Anyone knows what's the difference the weight (81 lbs) has brought to the 2009 over the 2008?

08 and 09 are only 11 lbs more than gen 1 as far I know. They added a cat at the back of the header pipe.

The ZZR1400 maybe more, I think they come with the center stand as standard equipment and they have a rear grab handle which has heavier hardware pieces to them.

You're kidding, right?
Everyone knows that the added weight of the supercharger, brackets, and larger radiator brought the weight up significantly.
Either that, or the manufacturers are now reporting a realistic *curb* weight instead of the prior *dry* weight. Check any other model, including the Suzuki site and you will see that all the bikes, including 600's and literbikes, look to have gained a LOT of weight.

The difference is the direct result of Japanese manufacturers deciding to classify bike weights differently bewteen the 08 and 09 model years. Here is the ZX14 weights taken directly from Kawasaki's 2008 and 2009 brochures:
2008 Dry Weight: 474 pounds
2009 Curb Weight: 566.7 pounds
The dry weight was always suspected to be far removed from reality. The actual weight gain from the 08 to 09 model is about 11 pounds. I own both 06 and 08 ZX14s in stock condition and can vouch for the 11 pound weight difference.
Looking at the Certificate of Origin for both bikes, the 06 ZX14 claims 190 horsepower, and the 08 ZX14 claims 193 horsepower. Strapped to a dyno, the 06 makes more peak power then the 08, with the 08 making significantly more low to mid-range power.
Manufacturer claims for weights and horsepower are nice referenced points, but reality (scales and dynos) usually tells a diferent story.

Also, the euro version ZZR can be had with ABS brake systems which could add even more, maybe 20 lbs.

I think that jerchung is comparing the wet verses dry weight: 566-485=81lbs.
Curb weight is the same as wet weight.

as far as the centerstand is concerned it weighs as much as the belly wing and bracket that it replaces

Extrapilot, is it that a big differrence between wet weight vs dry weight? How much more weight does a full gas tank add to the bike? Maybe five lbs extra with a full gas tank. Could someone explain what are the additional items included when considered dry weight to wet weight? I think Gremlin had a relatively good explanation above. Thanks Gremlin.

it is exactly what it says, nothing liquid is included with dry weight. oil, antifreeze, fuel, brake fluid.etc. 8o lbs on something the size of a 14 would be about right with the extra cat

At 6lbs per gallon of gas, that makes the other 3.8 gallons = 22.8 lbs. Total is 565.8 lbs. Just like what Kawasaki states...pretty much.

It's true - they added another seven catalytic converters. There is also now a third set of butterflies, which you have to remove in order to remove the secondary butterflies. The new TRE isn't cheap, you can make one yourself with a seven billion ohm resistor.
