Bike Security
Since the post on bike theft, I am curious to some of the ways you guys secure your bike while traveling. It's a little unnerving to leave the bike in areas that you can't see it. Alarm systems, lojack, rotor locks, big f**cking chain and padlock. What works?

Scorpio paging alarm works for me. A disk lock with alarm is another easy solution. A light weight bike cover helps to not call attention to your bike and gives the bad guys one more thing to do.

I haven't had my bike stolen since I've had LoJack installed, but it also has another cool feature.
I was with my son, visiting his in-laws, when my son went outside to move my bike so they could get a car out of the driveway. He didn't grab my keys, he just rolled it out of the way. Within seconds my key ring lit up and LoJack called me to tell me that my bike was being moved. Since I gave LoJack 3 phone numbers, they called all 3.
It appears that I will know instantly when my bike is being tampered with or moved.

I USED to use a Xena disc lock until I forgot it was on there and made the expensive mistake of rolling it out of a parking space without removing it, and cracking my front fender. I use a Scorpio alarm which pages me whenever something happens to my bike and lets me know if someone tilted it into riding position, or banged against it, or is even standing too close. Loud alarm to frighten intruders. I also use a highly visible yellow grip-lock because it's secure and easy to carry with you.
Check out the site: http://www.grip-lock.com/
I also use a Covercraft Weathershield cover with a lock: protects the bike from the elements, hides it, and the lock gives burglars something additional to contend with. While they are fiddling with your cover they are setting off your Scorpio alarm and then they would have to deal with that damn throttle/brake lock.
Ultimately, if they are professional then they will get your bike regardless but why make it easy?

+1
If the bike is worth enough, or they are working in a small group, 3 men can pick up a bike and carry it into a van, or whatever.
A friend of mine had Harley his stolen 5 years ago, 3 big dudes picked up the 700 lb bike and left footprints in the mud to prove it.

I too have had this thought arise... I think I am going to go with a paging alarm...... The disc locks dont seem to really prevent anything.

Same thing here too. the audible alarm is nothing fancy to write home about, but it is motion activated meaning you wont forget to take it off the brakes before leaving. Doh!
