air cleaner and throttle bodies

hey guys, just stripping the bike down for its valve adjustment tomorrow at shop, I have a BMC filter in her and not happy with all the debris I found that got passed filter. Also there seems to be oil a top and around the throttle bodies? is this normal? Bike has 22k kilometres, (13750 miles,) It's an 06 model, have read some threads bout the air filter element not sealing properly.
TIA, Mark

It's not so much your filter as the warped black plastic cover air leak. On a tip I ordered an aluminum cover for an 09 to replace my stock black plastic cover. Mine is a 2007 with 15500 miles and runs a BMC race filter. I had read complaints about this dirt past the filter issue before and watched for it. I have pulled it down several times to check for grit past the filter, found virtually none.

Normal. There is a way to fix it from happening again, but I forgot. Check out Shanes build thread, I'm sure he covers it in there. One thing that does help, is never run your oil higher than half way up your sight glass (when warm).

is your filter a BMC race or street ? Id use the street filter if you have any dust worries .
While your tanks off it could be a good time to check the battery terminals , as some on here have had them loose .
