Help! Bike not starting!
Help! My zx14 is having troubles. I have a PC3, no flies, a Brocks alien head exhaust. Everything else is stock. 24,000 miles. Valves were done already.
I washed my bike yesterday. After it dried, I went to start it. It was rough starting, had to hold throttle slightly open to get her to start. Bike exhaust is blackish, and kinda a little blue almost. I opened up airbox, there was some drips of oil here and there, not much to be alarmed of.
Idle adjustments I played with, and nothing. Bike is rough starting.
My questions. When it starts up, it doesnt idle fast, like the simulated choke of a carbureted bike. I know theres a servo connection that holds the throttle open via a servo, could this be my problem?
Please help, you guys are the experts!
Do I need new plugs?!?

Light it up and keep riding it till it warms up then whack the throttle so you dry the spark sticks. Water might be messing with the starting and you need to cook the bike dry. As long as the dash does not code the sticks like codes 51 through 54 is that number will tell you wet plug you WATTed up.
Go dry the bucking horse.

either, unplugg the power commander and see if its fine.
if it is, plug the power commander back in and try to ground right to the battery.
if its still fine there ya go. if not, you killed your PCIII.
if none of these are the issues, then let me know.

my pc3 is fine. I reset inside the software yesterday, and reloaded my brocks map. Yes, im positive the PC3 is fine, cause i keep it half-in-a-plastic bag anyways.
Havent seen any codes on the display.
Im hoping its just some h20!

from a cold start, its rpms rise, leading me to believe it may not be a servo error.
If a spark plug went out, would it shoot me a code?!
If I replace my spark plugs, do I NEED to do the iridium plugs? i have the standard plugs, and they were cross referenced to be compatible with the zx14. Should I use them or buy the iridium plugs?
Are there any walkthroughs anyone knows of or tips on how to do spark plugs yourself?!
I really appreciate any help you experts have!!!

PC ground problem.
unplug the pc and see if it starts.
If does, reroute the ground wire to the battery ground not under the water bottle.
I spliced another wire into the ground and sent it to the battery leaving the original alone.
this is a common problem.
I know you're sure it's good but Unplug PC first.
spark plugs are not hard with the tool in the kit.

tried to reground the pc3 and it didnt fix the problem. It is NOT the PC3..
Any other ideas?
I mean, I rode it home, washed it as usual making sure not to get tons of water everywhere, started it afterwards, and it ran like shit.
Now it has trouble turning over, and weird colored smoke comes out when I started it up. I take care of my bikes, oil level is correct, new air filter, airbox is clean.
Any other ideas?!?

haha. Ive tried without PC3, and yes, im certain its not the unit.
Went to the dealership, talked to a very trusted employee, and im doing my spark plugs today. It was NOT the ground on the PC3, even though I hoped it would be the culprit.... =(
All Ive got to say is that this really sucks ass.

if it were a 109 I'd say you mighta yanked off a vacume hose from your TB to your idle sensor - cant recall the name of the gadget right now, but will give erratic idle until the hose is back on.

Obvious first, right? You washed it. i.e., you hosed down the fuel cap area with a steady stream of water. Are your filler bolts tight? sealed completely? Water in fuel is what its sounding like to me. Just yesterday had the same issue with my lawn mower. Add fuel dryer, shake well and run it for a few minutes to clear out the lines.

I love you guys, I really do!
I changed my spark plugs. Holy shitcakes, they were BLACK and looked like Satan Cheetos at the end. Totally black and fouled. Bike ran very well nonetheless, and still got 37mpg ave 47mpg fwy after 24k miles on the stock set...
Bike still ran a little shitty after changing them. Seems like the fast idle servo isnt kicking in as long as it used to before i changed exhausts.
MAIN POINT
I reset my throttle position on my zx14, and reloaded my brocks street map for no flies.
My bike used to make a little pop at 4500rpms. Now, it doesnt pop on decel at all!
Gonna go for a night ride right now to get it all warmed up, gonna rev that mofo.

refilled with Shell 91 gas, rode it and revved it very well. Bike ran fine, WAY more power can be felt with new plugs...
had a weird spot at 4500 rpms, and it still has a hard time starting up. Its fast idle isnt up to par.
Any way to adjust it, or an references to the service manual?!?
