Has anyone had a timing chain break

Got on it in first. Tire spun alittle and the motor shut off. Error code 23 came up on the display. Starter would turn but nothing else. Got back home and pulled it down. Timing chain stuck in the valve cover. Pulled the plugs and they are in good shape. Im going to pull the head to make sure nothing else happen. Thinking of going with a manual chain tensioner next time. Does anyone know how to set those. How tight.

My guess was cam or crank so crank moves, code 23 sits in the head and defaults = Cam Sensor is out of phase/wave goodbye to the valves.

1. WOT year?
2. How many miles?
3. Ever change the cam shims?

20/50 oil will take longer to build the pressure needed to tension the chain. Your cam chain buckled most likely. Going back to syn oil 10-40 Mobil. Kaw oil seems to break down early. Heavy oil. Never will go the heavy is better route. Harley used to sell 60 w and 50 for summer, Bad move.

I'm thinkin of goin with synthetic on my next oil change. My timing chain tends to make more noise on start-ups.

Pg. 114 of your Owner's Manual; shows a 20/50window and 10/50w is thinner still and is within range of any weights and measures. That means you are good to go is pick the ambient and now choose the weight to match the heat of the temp bar at the bottom.

Something called the weakest link could be one. Maybe something flew under the chain; whipped it did it up the chain along for the ride; found it's way under the chain and "Ding" goes any link is now a dingle berry stuck there is yes, I am thinking out of my ass but not oil as the; Cause > I think you might look elsewear; like who else took a shit in the case to do that as to break a chain? Scare me and say it is together and I stop riding this bike.

How tight? YOu could not give me a tensioner recall I am off this bike period! Is the chain in one continuous link like a wrist band for the green giant or is it broken and looks like a snake you hold it up?

Owner's Manual, my good man, not "Shop Man" You Will... See it on pg 113 or 114 depending on year of manual that came with your bike.
