1985 those were the days......lets all go back and live them again. had my 85 vmax and my 75 z1b the great grand daddy to the zx 1400 also an h2 750 what a blast that bike was.somebody died on that bike everyday .....and kawasaki sold alot of them.had to clean out my pants more than once....
quote:Man oh man i'm shocked !!! I just got a call from bigdtd and he is pissed !!! He went for a ride with Bad_Max the other day from QSL to Hooters .. Bad_Max reporded that the zx14 could not handle a Vmax in a roll on ..His post said his Vmax was out in front till 140 when he let off ..Dave saw the post over at StarVmax and called me and said we didn't even race and at NO time was Bad_Max in the lead or even close ...I went over to starVmax and looked for myself , sure as shit there it was !! bigdtd called Bad_Max and ran him over the coals and Bad_Max changed the post to read something different ..
I don't know about you guys but Bad_Max posting this type of untrue comments gives the readers on StarVmax a false impressions on what the Vmax can do or can't do.. ..
Hell Lee what did you expect? Its amazing how quick everybody seemed to forget Max's major bs and trash talking awhile back...and suddenly everybodies humping each others legs....a regular love-fest

We don't ban people like some other sites do because they are found out and move on pretty quickly on their own .. Bad_Max Made a mistake , he said he was sorry so lets move on ... I would like to see more Vmax owners here , hell we do have a Vmax Zone and i'd like to see more Vmax owners use it .. I know a few of the zx14 owners also want a Vmax so we need good soild info on mods like we have here for the zx14s ..
Just my 2 cents ...
"
I'm with Smokin on this Bad Max is new to this site, he didnt know this is a fact based site.............he made a mistake but he manned up and apologized................I say cut him some slack and move on as well, he seems like a cool guy thats into fast toys like the rest of us and if it werent for him letting Smokin test his bike we wouldnt have very many real facts to go on regarding the VMAX.
I look forward to more information on the VMAX particularly how it responds to mods and how it compares to the ZX 14 modified.
Yep just keep up the I agree with 1Bad........just another 2 faced V-Max rider

after visiting the starvmax.com i don't think they have much perspective on anything else. all very biased and they are very hung up on the stock thing! i have never owned a bike i didn't put a pipe on, i don't see what the big deal is. come on vmax owners put a pipe on your bike and run it. how hard is that?

Unfortunately there are no pipes out yet. One guy has delivered 5 homemade cat eliminators, but that's it. Even UFO doesn't have any ready to ship, they may start next week tho. I'm waiting for one of each to "test & tune"

One problem is that with so few bikes produced, it is not very lucrative for a large company to spend a lot of r&/d/tooling $$.

Just got this from UFO;
We are in the process of shipping out pipes from each of the 3 different systems to get coated this week. I am also working on my bike in the evenings. The to-do list keeps growing on that bike. Saw your pics at the strip. Very cool ! Nice that your bike ran quicker than Dale Walker's times. I will let you know as soon as the first pipes are done . That will push you nicely into the nines.

Does his pipes come with Track Bite so the tire can hook up? Or maybe a set of shorty fixed velocity stacks and a race ECU so it doesnt hit the limiter at the big end of the track.
Better yet would be set of chains and sprockets so that you vmax'ers could get your tire to hook up! Make no mistakes, the only reason you can spin so easily, and your 60' times will not come down to stretched bike territory is because of that shaft drive. Personally I think its BS that Yamaha would 'setup' the rear driveshaft/pinion angle with such a crappy angle that it just causes the tire to climb instead of dig. Speaking of that, any of you Max'ers try a U soft tire yet? Did there bike wheelhop? Just wondering...

now you know how zx-14 first owners felt when the 14 came out to compete with busas and their 8+ years of development and aftermarket parts headstart. the 14 aftermarket parts came eventually (actually pretty quickly) and we found out what they would do. the gains are yet to be seen for the vmax but the true measure will be how it responds. the14 picked up quite a bit of horsepower and weight savings. its all documented. the numbers are yet t be seen with the vmax additions, i'm sure they will be tunable and there is a lot of potential. nobody cares how it runs when you buy it, how does it run NOW. ____________

When is the last time you had your 14 to the dragstrip, Sticks? It's been reported that the bike hooked up fine....or did you not read that part?

why not just take the mufflers off and run with open pipe for a tuning session on the track to see what you gain ..

It's a collector/cat box with 4 catalytic converters & an ex/up valve, plus all four pipes "collect" there, and running open pipes pointing straight down is a no no. I should have a dif exhaust in 10 days (hopefully) to test.
This is how it will sound thru the stock cans. Dif than a 14, but not too shabby eh?

Nobody has seen the finished product, but this is the first one, hand made, that has of course been refined. I'm trying to get 1 by Thursdays test & tune.
This is the Xpipe that goes underneath the bike and will attach to existing header pipes and out to factory cans that are basically straight thru with some fibreglass damping.

The YCCI system that for the track doesn't even need to be there. Later in the video you see the YCCT flys in action, and WHY launching the Max is different. NEEDS FIX'D FOR RACING
