If you look at my third run you will see that the Vmax can wheely .. That run was a 1.69 ( my best 60 ) but when the front in came up i was shocked !! I backed off the throttle because it shocked me and then I turned it back on and it picked the wheel back up again ..I should have just stayed in throttle because that might have beem a really good pass ( maybe My best ) I'm so used to first gear wheelys on my zx14 that i'm allway ready to trim the throttle to keep the wheel down .. So when the Vmax did it i did as i would on my zx14 ..
Bad_ Max said he has an exhaust and P/C coming so we may have a shot at seeing what it can do with some mods ..We all know how the zx14 pickes up with a pipe and good tune and the Vmax should be no different ...I have said this before that i feel with a good pipe and tune and maybe toss in a Race ECU the bike should run 9.70s ..I hope i get a chance to test that and see ...

I think Bad_max has the 10.14 run on video but have yet to post it ..Maybe he will later , i'm not sure he may have some Vids of my 09 zx14 passes also ...

I sold it , i just wasn't happy with the lack of TQ and power .. It did run some good numbers but for me it came up short Vs a zx14 ...Had i not been a drag racer and more of a twisty rider i may have liked it more ..

I think any 09 V-Max owner that can run 9's should be happy, that single digit run will not happen with all of them, what does a V-Rod run? or any other Cruiser? V-Max is King of the Cruisers, and no a B King aint a Cruiser. lol good ride Smokin!

Thanks wheely ... I really gave it my all to put the bike in the 9s ... I feel bad that i didn't ... Everyone that knows me knows i like all bikes and all brands and i never had a problem with the Vmax .. But i did have a problem with a few of the Vmax owners just as i do with some Busa owners... The good part is at the drag strip we are all racers and friends and go out of our way to help each other .. What happens on the internet is not what happens at the track ..

the old vmax was barely able to be considered a cruiser. The new one isn't even remotely a cruiser. It's like a standard on roids.

Thanks Lee. Your assesment is dead on, Steddy Teddy has figured it out too. This is Yamahas answer for us older, larger guys that just can't get the youth out of us. No matter how much gravy momma poors on the mashed potatoes, we want to go fast too. Yamaha says break out the checkbook and you can. Simple as that. Steddy is dead on with his comment about the YCCT is to keep us from killing ourselves. Jon Cornel's (UFO) Vmax is lightened to 590lbs and he did away with the YCCI & YCCT so expect that bike to go low 9's. It is what it is, and a very fun bike to ride. It is easy to launch, but just not the conventional way you guys are used to. Leave like you would on the street without spinning the tire & the bike will still run in the 10s. The thing stops good, and handles long sweeping curves like its on rails. A simple governot fix or speedo healer will get the bike in the 160's top speed, but this whole top speed thing doesn't appeal to a lot of us "older" guys. We like to feel that shot of Adrenalin too ya know? lol 10 second burst is all we need.

I met Lee 4 months ago when I found he lives down the street. I immediately liked him and his collection of fast toys. We're not too different, except he's 1/2 my size, so it was a no brainer to want him to wring Max out & see what best possible times might be. We had a misunderstanding back then, but I always wanted Lee to be the one pilotting Max for a true assessment of the bikes performance. Since that time, there's been a bit of bickering between forums, and I really hate to see that. I'm hoping this night at the drags, and an honest adult conversation between ALL us adrenalin junkies will stop that. It was great night & we all learned a lot. Yamaha gave us older guys what we broke out our check books for. An easy to ride, twist & go, badass looking machine. No complaints here, and if you saw Victor Gotays smile that night, you may just understand how fun this thing is. Here's a kid that rides an 8 second 190 mph Busa that told me," This thing is FUN to ride, I bet I don't sleep tonight!" Yamaha built us a badass street cruiser, that's consistent as hell performance wise. While I love the 14's there's no way I could ride one on the streets everday. Now Steddy's bike, well that's a different story, and I'm bidding on one on ebay right now. I've been a Kawasaki fan for many years, owned 2 Eliminators and a couple H1's(back in the day) and had never seen a ZRX. I think I'm in love again.. Anyway, here's a shot of some of Lee's time slips. If he had more seat time on the Max, I think he or Victor could just break into the 9's. It is all about the launch. You gotta just drive off, and forget what you think about launching it. Let the torque do the work. Yamaha kept it simple. If you're breathing, can twist your wrist, and HTFO, you can runs 10's. Here's Victor Gotay tring to get to the 9's and out pulling an 09 Busa.

Thanks soooooo Much to Lee & Steddy Teddy for hellping to make it all possible. I would have just looked like an old fool out there, and Max deserved a better shot than that. Lee, don't even worry about the tire man. I told you from jump, don't spare anything, lets see what it will do. It actually still looks pretty good. We did use 2/3 of a tank of gas, 1/4 mile at a time..lol But it was great! Pipe, pc & speedfix coming up next & we'll go beat on it again if you want.
Don't worry guys I won't be hanging out here, just wanted to chime in and let Lee know, he didn't hurt my tires or my feelings. LETS DO IT AGAIN! Time slips below, BONE STOCK!

its ok you don't have to explain to me that 09 green is slower than 06 red..should have kept the 06

vmax has been called a Muscle bike ..its never been a cruiser simply cause it don't carry enough fuel to get you pass a gas station .. i've seen vmax owners packing gas cans out in west texas on the back of bike ..dedicated phuckers they are.. i think it should be called a vmaxownershype bike . cause no matter how bad of a bike it is ..the owners always got a reason why its the best bike ever.. don't believe me just ask them... i said it before and i'll say it again ..only owners worst than busa owners is vmax owners

Nice.
The videos were great guys!
I am still covered in snow here...

I am just thinking of putting the sleds down in the shed...

If I did not like bikes I would not go to Bike Show's. I love them all.
I choose to ride what I like.
Sad to say if it were a Harley. It would be on a Harley.
Drastic suggestion though.

VMAX why not?
Not my style.
But still alot of fun.
I still prefer my ZX14.
It still puts a smile on my ass.

i got to ride with bad max last night and after smokin adjusted the tire pressure and pulled the airfilter the bike will carry the front wheel for a ways. it runs strong and is loads of fun to ride. the 14 and the vmax are two different animals but both will move you down the road. max has generously let me ride it a couple of times now and i am duly impressed with the massive torque this thing puts out. it is one tire smokin machine. if you don't believe me check the tire marks in front of QSL and Hooters!
