Do you know what the v-max did in the 1/8mile?
Most runs were low 6.50s @ 108 .. Vic runs were also low 6.50s .. Vic lighter weight and blip shifting got him a little better ET than me ... I use the clutch on my shifts ..

well, that tells us a few things.
1. badmax is completely full of shit about outrunning busas lol.
2. imtoofast is a retard with a big mouth
3. yamaha fucked it away with technology
4. in the right hands it could beat a shitty rider on a big bike
5. it did exactly what we all knew it would do
6. dale walker did an accurate write up.
good riding lee and thanks for the good info as always.

Yeah I think your spot on Bawis.............I love the looks of the VMAX.............might very well own one someday.................BUT Yamaha should have made it way lighter and way faster. if it were 200 pounds lighter and had 20-30 more horsepower with the same styling it would be a MUCH more interesting option..........and could better justify its price.

I know, I was going to update that post and estimate 139MPH but smoking posted the results right before I did................LOL
Like Bawis said the VMAX performed exactly like most of us expected it to.

Yup low 10's with two very above average and light riders. so most guys will go 10.50's to to 10.80's stock.

Fish - this thread needs to be book marked at the top of a V-MAX forum...that way we can easily reference it when these guys start tossing out all this bs.

Ah this is where everyone is. LOL Was fun seeing that big bohemith run down the track. Both Lee and Victory tried their best to get it into the 9's but just wasn't happening last night.

Really he was very happy about the numbers .. It made his day when i took out a 09 Busa twice ..People at the track were impressed with the bike , even little Vic wanted to get one for a street bike ..
Oh Bad_Max did say after seeing my first 9.30 pass " I see we will not be beating any strapped and pipe zx14s, the zx14 is one bad bike "

good job lee, i worked late and couln't make it. the vmax is a cool bike, lots of grunt but it needs some help up top and in the weight dept. it is user friendly, you can wick the throttle in 1st gear and it will just spin the tire, if you tried that on the 14 it would flip! i'm glad you got a chance to ride it at the track. i thought it shifted better with no clutch.

I think he is around 130 to 135. He's put on a little gut this past year. If I remember right, I think he said he was down to 125lbs in 2007 when he took the chamionship.

Lee mentioned something about the "fly by wire" throttle perhaps having a less-than-positive effect. I am starting to think there may be more to this than the weight...
My 14 was about 525 lbs, and me about 230 lbs. suited when it went a 1.49 60 ft, at 64". And I am not a fast guy. Lee on the Max is about 100 lbs. more....that should, in itself, not make .2 difference in 60 ft. The bike has pretty low gearing, more power, and is longer than the 14...
Let me put it this way...dropping 100 lbs. off of the bike would put it at where I was, weight-wise with the 14. And at that length and weight it should be able to go high 1.3's...over .3 quicker in the 60 foot. There has to be something more to it than the weight.

lee can answer for himself but the times he is running right now are stock wheelbase, the 8.70s were stretched, fyi you need to pay attention

Shane you are forgetting the max is a shaft drive. I can assume that you have never driven a shaft drive bike? They are a devil to launch because the shaft twists up the power, causing the front to feel like its pushing down while the back feels like its trying to climb up. It's really hard to explain, but imagine this: you nail the gas in first gear and it feels like a giant is trying to push the front tire to the back tire, with the bike taco'ing up in the middle. Totally kills traction and the friction of the CV's under that kind of load are sucking up the power. Getting down to a 1.3 60ft will require more than just a stickier tire. Probably require a entirely new CV joints and gears in the differential, alot with major shock stiffening, pinion angle adjustments, and possibly a conversion to a single CV jointed axle/torque tube. Unless its already a single...
Edit: cant donate my $5 to Bikeland. No linky! And I'm not buying a $21 dollar hat, either! You cheap bastard Fish, how about supporting the economic recovery and lowering them prices!

I'm sure the fly by wire has a lot to do with it. It's probably acting a lot like the secondaries on the 14. The ECU only allows the fly's to open so fast so people don't kill themselves. Victor tired launching the bike at 8K and it just went into a bog. He lowered the RPMs allowing the TQ to do the work and it went faster.

I know the Vmax is a shaft drive, and I have ridden plenty of shaft drive bikes. Also, it has been noted that wheelspin in the 60 ft. was not an issue.

It's great that you got to get out there and do some real testing Lee. Good write-ups. And it's really quite cool that badmax let you and Vic beat up on his machine for the test. Good thread.
