Why does this even come up ? I blew the Funking tire off at the starting line and the bike barely moved.. I compleatly LET OFF THE GAS after it Spun !!!! PeeWee had a big lead and i got back in it and ran him down ... Had i hooked the bike i would have left that Vmax for dead ...YES I said DEAD ... FUCKING DEAD ......
Smokin, the V-Max owners dont see all the spankins you give the Max, just the one that was close. if you would have lost, well you know what would be said.

True ... What really pisses me off is Bad_Max posted the same thing on StarVmax as he did here ( Here's Jay heating the tire before a run with Lee. Lee got him 9.58 to a 9.59 pass by Jay, but it was close ) BUT he doesn't tell the hole story and gives the Vmax owners over there a false impression that a Vmax can hange with my bike ...That is so far from the truth it's not even funny ...

ehhh, don't worry too much 'bout it. Badmax sounds like the kind of guy who will set them straight. Or they will take there bike to a head to head meeting with a zx14.
Speaking of which, I had a new vmax turn around and follow me saturday. He got next to me and did a short rolling burnout. Gotta admit thats impressive, but unfortunately for him I wasn't cowed down by it. At the next light there was a car between us, I split the lane around the car and lined up next to him. I pointed at the light, he looked up at it then at me, I got into (what I hope) was a good launch position. Side light turned yellow, I brought revs to 5K, but heard nothing from the max. Hmm. Not willing to let him suprise me I launched as hard as I could (GOD I have to work on that. Poor clutch must feel like one of those hookers who likes to cut herself) but let up mid intersection when I saw him leaving the line normally.
He meandered up to me but wouldnt even get next until we were in traffic again. THEN he romps by me spinning his tire again, nearly hitting the SUV ahead of us. Jeez... reminds me of trying to get Stunters to road race - if it aint a straight line they are chicken.
Anyways, I was impressed by the sound of that max. Badass rumble! And now that I've seen it in person, I want one. Not often a guy my size can find a bike that fits me without looking comical.

I wouldn't let it get to you, Lee. The audience over there isn't interested in hearing about how fast the 14 is...and anyone who knows these bikes knows the real deal.

Turn the sound up and look closely ...You will hear me blow the tire off and kill the throttle and then get back on the power .. Look closely, you can see where i got sideways ..Even with all the Drama i still ran him down ...

Lee knows I posted his 8.98 video and also his remarks about the evening are posted about blowing the tire off. There's no disputing of facts here. Lee's Zx14 is faster & everyone over there knows it. I made sure of that. The new Vmax is fast right from the factory. Thanks to Lee & everyone here for helping to show actual numbers. It was a fun event & we made thekneesliders.com front page.

Maybe it's just me, but here is what I get out of this, based on what the VMAX people are thinking:
quote:Lee's Zx14 is faster & everyone over there knows it. I made sure of that.
It should be - it's "HIGHLY MODIFIED"!

........... and the ZX-14 is NOT?????

The Zx14 was never in question. People wanted the times & info on a new bike, the vmax. I did what I could.
I added this to the post over there, because it was already posted about Lee's launch that run, but wanted to make sure EVERYONE sees it.
" (remember Lee didn't get a good start but what a fun race to watch him run down the Vmax)"
I don't know what else I can do. Everyone wanted to see the numbers, so I offered up my bike to Lee for a demonstration and to get base times. Then people wanted to know what it would do with mods. I spent $500 and now mine has a few mods, and we timed it again. I'm even willing to do one more trip to the track with a new clutch. What else can I do ? Except say thanks...

Yeah, thanks for letting it happen. This is the kind of info that we used to have to wait months for the magazines to report, and still wonder if the article was biased.
BTW, I DO remember Mr. Gleason from "way back", but have never met him. He ROCKS!

excuses excuses excuses 9.58 vs 9.59 ...
1 of my old vmax buddies gets his azz handed to him on every ride we ride -on . bad ,ugly bad ..and when we stop for a drink.. he tells us how fast our bikes are ..but when he's alone and talking to strangers ...its how bad we got beat .. this is how he's been for 8 years..we later learnt all v-max owners are like him ...

Tim put up a page on his site & other than getting the 1st & 2nd time slips backwards is accurate. He gave Lee honorable mention for doing the best 60ft time, but prolly spelled his name wrong. Anyways, here it is. Thanks again Lee & contributors. http://www.vmaxguru.com/Ride_Events/Brad_Drag_4-30-09/Brad_Drag_4-30-09.htm ____________

Bob directed me to this thread some time ago. As many people know, I don't normally post up in forums anymore. I wanted to break ranks to say thanks for the good conversation at the track. I appreciate the pointers you guys offered. Good company.
For the record, I realize the V-Max may never catch a ZX14, but its fun to try. I like to aim high! Besides, I have a Whipple blower if all else fails! (Probably take it!) For now, I am content with trying to beat our last times. That's the game I like to play for now.
Lee, I know Jay will not always be available so I may look you up. I was impressed. If you ever need a day of dyno tuning, look me up.

Thanks Tim letting me make a pass on your bike ...I think i could have got a 9.60 on your bike with a few more trys...You asked me to be easy on your bike and i did just that.. The fact is i ran a 9.74 on an easy pass tells me it has much more in it if i had pushed it .. All the credit goes to you for doing such a fine job tunning the bike ..At the very least we have a base line run on your bike that can be used for future testing if need be .. Thanks again Tim..

I could see that in the LM-2 data. Nice big fat blip in the throttle for each shift. I have no doubt you have the skills for a 9.6 or better. Nice 60 foot time on Bad Max's bike by the way!

Lets not forget the price tag on these two bikes new. I was in the dealer saturday zx14- $12,500, Vmax-$17,500. Both bikes are fast, but with the 14s price tag...You have an additional $5000 to put into mods for the difference in Msrp.
