MR9 IN THE TANK? What do you think?

I plan on making my first 1/8 mile passes(3 to 4 runs) on MR9 with Brocks track map.
@ 27.54 a gal. I don't plan on wasting it.

Questions:
1.With the tank completely empty how much MR9 fuel should I pour in to just make these four passes?
2. Will it damage the motor by letting it simply run out of fuel?

If it matters 16/44 gearing,280rider)

I hope to pour in the right amount so that I can just let the zx14 run out of fuel shortly after the four passes so that I don't have to take the tank off and drain it.

Thanks in advance for all feedback,

Sure as hell not around here. I priced it last Fall at a local speed shop, and it was $45 a gallon - and for that I had to join in a 'group' buy of a 55 gallon drum. F* that.

You will need at least a gallon so that when you launch, the sloshing in the tank doesn't suck air into the fuel pump. But it won't burn a gallon in 4 passes. Go to autozone and buy a $4.00 siphon to get the remaining fuel out. Then dump in a small amount of pump gas and run it till you don't smell MR9 coming out of the exhaust.

Thanks ninaboy, I will do; and congrats on your win.
Is it a good idea to put the fuel siphoned back in with the unused fuel or should I keep it separated?

I run 1 1/2 gallons in mine ... When done i pull the tank and remove the pump to get all the MR9 out ...Add some pump gas and run it a bit .. Never had any luck with a siphon pump ... The hose gets cut with the sharp lip below the cap and cuts off little slivers that end up in the tank ..

I put the unused fuel back in the can with the other MR9 till next time ..

What if you filled up your tank afterwards and diluted the MR9 and then ran it for a while. Would the little amount of MR9 left mixed in with the pump gas still do damage?

Thanks guys,

Now that I know how to remove the MR9,

1.what is the best way to store it?(in the 5gal can it came in, a walmart plastic jug, or something else?)

2. how long will it last before it loose power?

You have to keep in a steel can ... Plastic jug is a no no ..Even in the steel can it will go flat in a very short time . Maybe a week or so... It's just like opening a bottle of coke, it loses its bubbles pretty quick ..

gilber,

The quickshifter works great. It took awhile to get it set-up just right but I got it thanks to dubious. For roll ons it is a must have(for me anyway). Thanks for selling it to me at such a fair price and shipping it the next day. Next, I have an uninstalled air shifter; I'm tring to figure out how to use them together.

VP Makes a very good siphon - designed for a drum - if you cut the plastic pipe the size of a 5 gallon can then you can attach a high quality hose that you can bu at Lowes and use a hose clamp. There is a fuel company in California that supplies for Bub speed trials that will sell you a 5 gallon can that has a seal like a 55 gallon drum - this elliminate the evaporation and fumes/odor that seeps from the plastic lid on the VP can and seals it perfectly air tight - pops like a chapane bottle when you open it - at leat air release - the lid doesn't fly off though. Also you can rig an electric pump. Smokin is right though - the hose will tend to slice if you use soft hose or even with hard hose if you are not careful.

using u4 which is similar I let pump gas run out after siphoning what I can and then add oxeginated fuel....after the weekend of racing i let oxyginated fuel run out dry running the bike dry and then add pump gas....i use a clean quart of oil container with pimp gas or oxygenated fuel which I take with me when I run the bike dry....

never had had any issues by running dry...

should I change my procedure...why...?

no problerms running the motor dry and have done at least a dozen times....

my 2 cents...works for me...

Hi Guys,

I just talk with a Rep. from VPracing fuels and was advised to get one of their 15gal. cans because it seals like a 55gal. drum.
I am going to contact my fuel supplier to see if they have one laying around.

VP claims MR9 makes 8% more power than pump gas and is 87 octane.
VP claims MR11 makes 6% more power than pump gas and is 90 octane.

The stick on the ZX14 fuel tank states not to use less than 90 octane fuel.

Question:
Which fuel(MR9 or MR11) is the best for the motor? In other words, will MR9s 87 octane hurt my engine?
