A Little AMA Superbike Lesson Please?

How is it that a Buell 1125R is able to compete in the 600 class.

Is this bike tuned down? I noticed that it didn't win by much.

not disagreeing with kawajockey...but the DMG is trying to include more manufactures and parity in the Daytona Supersport/bike class...which has led to Buell having a major displacement and hp advantage over the 600cc inline fours. Eslick is a good rider and the even though he might be turning slower lap times the 4s don't have the power to pass. Hopefully DMG will add some weight restrictions to the Buell in short order.

not to hijack the thread, but why the hell didn't DMG just adopt the WSBK FIM rules...and leave the other bikes up to the Moto-ST/GT classes. If you want to compete, build a bike within the rules, not change the rules to make a H-D bike competitive.

Everything is "thrown" Harley's way unfairly. Thats exactly why Flat track racing is #$%^ing garbage.

Its takes Harley 1125 CC's to compete in a class of 600 CC bikes. Go figure! And the main reason they won is rider skill.

I regret seeing any racing go down but its a known fact worldwide American AMA racing is a farce

Fast guys show up... They are thrown out by the wordage of the Daytona Mantra: "Not in the SPIRIT of racing" is that rule infraction. So, out go the fast 600cc' Inn comes the H-D is, "We need a win today is can you helpuss?"

Sure! Daddy let Dodge win is send the fast guys home is Richard Petty really won Daytona fair and square all those times? REally!?!?!?!?

I think DMG had lunch with NHRA and came up with the rules. I can hardly watch the PSB class without being disgusted. There are now more Buell's in the PSB class than they have sold off of the floors in two years.
