Being Chased By the cops............

Anybody been chased by the Cops? Been a while ( 20 years ago) but I have evaded capture 3 times. Once the helicopters were even out. Had to abandon the bike and run, but I did it. Not proud of this but....... Got a ticket 2 years ago when the Man came running out from behind a tree and flagged me over. He was 50ft. from his patrol car......... I played this over in my mind and I'm glad I did not run but..........Ahhh the memories!

I had a lil run in here and there, lol. I can honestly say if I know my area I'm gone or if I'm on a highway with frequent exits he can forget seeing me. I always keep this in mind though: there is one motor you can't outrun and that's Motorola. Have your wits about you and be prepared to accept the consequences of speeding and eluding. It is what it is.

Did it twice when I was younger. First time I nearly killed myself from brake fade. Second time the cop almost killed me. Never, never, EVER did I do something stupid like that again. I could have killed somebody..

A few times - once even in Myrtle Beach while there for BBW. Recently I've been riding slower. Getting to the point where I'm asking myself "Why risk it?"

A friend of mine was out on his GSX-R one afternoon when he heard the police siren catching him up. He took off, rode like a man possessed, lost them and hid in a hedge until after dark, then he rode home.
Later that night came the knock on the door. The sad thing, as they explained, was that they weren't after him. They were on another emergency call but couldn't ignore him after he took off at such high speed. They took his licence away.

I learned from his experience and I would always stop.

i had to run from a gamewarden at night on a quad once lol. we had ridden to the lake where some friends were having a party and the next thing we knew the gw was running at us with a flashlight. I flipped a bitch and took off through the woods with my lights off. if it had been anywone else, they would have crashed and burned, but i'm the one who created the trails lol. later that summer, i got busted for riding on the road while pullstarting a friends yz426f that wouldn't crank.

The group I rode with about a month had a run-in with a trooper. There was about 15 of us. Me and my friend was in the tail-end running about 110 mph when we saw one guy coming back the other way full twist on a busa followed by a few others. We came up on some of our other buddies stopped in the middle of the road turning around, so we followed. We met up at a gas station a little ways back and they informed us that a few of them met a trooper while running over 150 mph. The trooper busted a U and nearly cut a donut trying to straighten up. One guy pulled over, one guy ran and the rest of us turned around. We met up with the guy that ran about an hour later. He said he slowed down to about 90 when he saw the trooper, but after he saw him turn around, he cranked it back up and never looked back! The one that pulled over said the trooper clocked him at 153, but gave him a break and dropped it to 80 in a 55.

Here in Ontario the cops have the right to impound your bike and take you licence away for a week if caught 50kph over the speed limit.

So alot of guys are talking about running. It's not worth it even with this stupid law we have here.

We also have radar planes flying over the major highways, one guy was clocked at 240KPH, once he slowed down the cops stopped him, he did not even know that he had been clocked at that speed, he thought he was getting a ticket for the speed when he was pulled over. He was in tears when they towed his bike away.

You neglected to mention the minimum $2,000 to maximum $10,000 fine... Not to mention the jump your insurance will take because of Commissioner Felatio's law... The fine for running is not much worse than getting caught for 50 Kph over the limit. The majority of the cases are thrown out, but you still have a suspension on your license, the towing fees and impound fees for a week...

You're going to see more people running here in Ont..

I've got 2 tickets in the past 3 years (both in my car) and my insurance is now totally insane (510/mth 2 vehicles 200/mth 3 bikes for a 46yo owner). Now, if you were to get tagged at 150 or over on a flat, wide open perfectly straight hwy like the 417, literally at a sedate cruisng speed on a Zx14, you would lose your ride, lose your insurance, lose your license and possibly lose your job....and the people that support this new revenue generating mechanism disguised as a law are surprised the incidence of "failing to stop" is on the rise????

It's not "running" fish, I prefer to think of it as "continuing to ride at the same clip". Luckily I've never had to test that theory in court....

As I mentioned on here last summer, I passed a highway patrol on the side of the road radaring. As coincedence would have it, I was sweeping past 175mph on my way to a speed limiter run (my first attempt on the 14) when I saw the troopers car. Saw him pointing the radar gun at me, I reflexively let up on the throttle for a second then when I realized the implications of a 175mph ticket I went WOT and tucked in even farther. As I approached him he was getting into his car. When he heard me get back on it he popped back up and I saw him raising the radar again in my mirror. I hit the limiter a few seconds later and am sure he got it on his radar gun. Then I hit a S turn in the highway that was full lean at around 180mph. THATS a pucker factor there!
