one rotor?
Hey guys,
I'm looking to remove one of my front rotors.
What is the best way to do that?
Do I just remove the rotor and leave the pads and claiper there to clamps down on itself? Or do i need to plug the line to that caliper?

Leave the left side on and remover the right side Caliper and rotor ... Remove the cross over hose that goes to the right side ... Use the banjo bolt off the right side to put the hose back on the left side ...No plugs needed that way ....

All of them that I've seen take the caliper off and plug the line. I've thought ab this before, but a little nervous bc I ride it on the street sometimes.

I ride on the street too and i dont think the gains would be worth losing 50% of my front braking power. If the zx9 wheel swap turns out to be worth it, I might get all three rotors lightened by DME when i swap wheels.

I wouldn't say much If it's the one of the few weight mods you do. I like the front brakes way to much....I ride with no back brake at all...took it off.

Thanks guys. I just do a little cruising. Funy though FLatoutBu, I hate not having a rear brake. But I use front majority of the time.

Well if I ever get into a big nasty wheelie I'll regret not having one...but that is probably the only time I would ever use it.

My theory is this: how many guys weight the front end of their bikes, the factory did this for you and it even helps you stop. It is up front and down low.

but it's unsprung rotating mass which hurts a lot more than adding ballast.

We have to have a rear brake to run semdra, so that kinda wasn't a option. I'd really like to give it a try, but haven't (and don't think I will) convinced myself that the gains would be worth the safety factor, especially if me and my gf got on it and went for a ride... Imagine having to explain to her parents that we wrecked bc I was trying to save 4.to 5lb by taking half the brakes off....
