What's a used 08 going for?
I am not selling but I really need to hear this from you guys.........
I am requesting anyone to give an opinion on what a one year-old 2008 Midnight Saphire Blue ZX-14 with 6000-7000 miles should sell for by an owner. The bike has been garaged and is completely stock except for flies removed. It has seen occasional (maybe 10 times) revs to 9000rpm but has never hit the rev limiter. A few hard starts but nothing like drag strip takeoff. For a visual, I'm still on OEM back tire at 6300 miles, 2000 miles left of treatment similar to what it's seen so far before I'm out of tread.
Bike has suffered one 0mph roll onto left side resulting in pitting of lower fairing and a few on the left side, a chipped front fender, a scraped left mirror bottom, broken left feeler peg and scrape under left muffler. Bike has never been down except for this one mishap while dismounting. All paint damage has been filled and buffed to nearly new condition but the spots are visable upon close examination. Very minor corosion to brake line fittings to caliper housings.
Oil & filter was changed at 500 miles 1500 miles and a every 2000 miles after using Kaw 10W-40. Chain cleaned/lubed every 300 miles and kept properly adjusted. All 500 mile maintenance checks done. No mechanical problems whatsoever. Runs like new. Bike kept meticulously clean.
Battery was stored on a charger for 1 winter.
I don't want to influence anyone's opinion of what this bike should sell for so I will wait a few days to post why I'm asking. Thanks.
P.S. I already know the answer, but I need to have other opinions to support my own. Thanks.

These bikes depreciate at an alarming rate. Recently, when I was looking at another bike they only offered mid 6K trade in. Definitely sell it outright, maybe you can eek out $7500.

Thats what I was offered for my 06, on a trade in for a 08 KTM 990 Super Duke. (Salesman knows Me and my desire for said bike)
$7500 seems about right for my area for that bike. Might sell at that price.
I would offer you less because of damage and cost of replacing tires.
The NW has higher prices than most areas. "Most' owners would post it for $8,500 and sit on it a long time.
Hope this helps with whatever you got in mind with this thread.

I got a 08 ZX14 last fall from Michigan for $10,000. It had 1800 miles on it with $3000 in extras. Really a nice bike!

I really doubt that you can get even $7.5K in a private sale.
Heavily modded bikes with that mileage and similar condition sell
for around $8.5K around my neck of the woods.
Trade in in the dealership would be less than $7K IMHO,
maybe slightly over if it wasn't for the damaged fairings.
Not a good time to be selling a used bike- one of the many reasons mine's
going nowhere!

.......also a big reason I plan on hanging on to the 14 til it's just used up. Selling doesn't make sense unless a guy really needs the money or just doesn't want the bike anymore. I have no plans to sell and I hope I never have to.
Thanks for input everyone. Keep 'em coming, I'm listening. 10 more posts and I'll let the cat out of the bag. If you know, keep it quiet please, because I want to get impartial opinions.

A local dealer has a new 06 for 7999+tax... I would say you will have a hard time getting anything above $7500 for a used 08... especially given the current times/conditions.

$7,299 firm, if you want to move it quickly.( post it: here, craigslist, ebay, local bike shops)
$8,299 firm, if you are willing to set on it awhile and hope for the best.(keep in mind it is depreciating about $300 every 6 month with no additional wear and tear. IMO

Stu and Bently got it. Lawyers aren't too worried about the bike but I was. I just would like to show my X how much the bike has dropped in value.

I heard that all the 2009 ZX-14's have been distributed, I'm in the UK. The only ones left are apparently those in dealers and there aren't many of those. Don't know if this is world-wide but it can't hurt values of 2nd hand bikes between now and the end of the year when the 2010 bikes appear.

The divorced guy who bids highest without going over wins what we have behind door number one...........an 08 Kawasaki ZX-14!!!!
The ex's lawyer claims the Bluebook value is $7300. That's less than I was expecting. Never thought I'd be so happy the thing was depreciating like a bat out of hell! I can swallow 7 Gs if I have to but I'm still trying to bargain the value down some. It's less painful to buy your spouse out of community property because you only have to pay half the value. Really, I'm paying full declared value though because I already bought my half in the initial purchase.
In any event, it looks like the 14 will be around a while and have a lot of miles put on it before I say bye-bye.
