Rotella T 5W40 Synthetic

I noticed a lot on this forum are running this oil in their 14, what do you think about it?

I switched to it at 1000 miles. Have 3000 on it now. No problems. The clutch felt better after the switch and the engine seemed a little smoother.

I've got over 30,000 miles on it between my VTX and my 14, shifts smooth, runs cool and uses no oil. Will switch the CBR over to it after breakin. Just wondering how many others used it.

Long time no hear, J. So you went with a CBR, hey? I am hearing good things about that bike. Perfect example of a tad less hp not always amounting to a slower bike. I'm eyeing a white one on the dealership floor myself. Still looking at the GSXR, too. I'm hearing the Honda makes the others feel slow! Congrats.

Lots of folks swear by the Rotella 15w40 non-synthetic for summer use . I haven't tried it yet though.

Rotella makes a regular dino oil in 15-40 and a full synthetic in 5-40. I've been using the 15-40 in my boat diesels for almost 10 years...good stuff. I've never tried the 15-40 in my 14, but I really like the synthetic 5-40.

I switched over to Rotella at about 2,500 miles and the bike runs GREAT!!!!! No leaks, runs like a beast. I currently got about 10,000 miles and just perform another oil change w/Rotella.

The Rotella 15W40 is dino oil and the 5W40 is a Group III synthetic. The big advantage of the 5W40 is it flows to bearings almost instantly during cold starts. It also costs a lot more than the 15W40. I think I payed $20 a gallon at Wallie world for the last batch of the synthetic.

what about Repsol's Moto 4T Racing oil? the price really doesn't matter, so wouldn't this be the best oil to run?

^^I just used that and noticed a very positive change in engine and shifting noise. I started it up tonight, ~30 degrees F and it sounded perfectly smooth right off the starter button. However, price matters to me a little bit so it's worth trying less exotic synthetic oils, IMHO.

Thanks. I see Bud, bgordon and a few others posting there. Several frequent posters from ninja.com here, too. I get kind of comfortable hanging around the same spot but I'm going to pop over once in a while. I see there is a forum dedicated just to questions for Hub. LOL Perfect!!

Looking at Rotella T today and saw that they claim new formulations since late 2009, and was concerned due to a couple indicators that it may not be wet clutch friendly anymore. However an email to Shell's tech support brought back an impressively quick reply saying that the T Triple Protection 15-40 and T6 5-40 products have undergone the JASO MA wet clutch test. The T5 (synthetic blend) product doesn't mention CI-4 designation so not sure if it is wet clutch compatible.

Also confirmed there is no difference between US and CDN forumations (as there often are for gas).

Curious as to what prices people are getting for Rotella T? I'm finding frightening prices here. The synthetic T6 runs about the same price as factory Kawasaki full synth, and the 15-40 dino stuff runs around $3.40 a liter when purchased in a 5gal pail from Walmart (more expensive elsewhere). I've heard people talk about $15 for a 1 gal jug of synthetic from Walmart so this doesn't seem right, unless oil prices have gone up alot with gas.
