A slightly dumb $600 question...

I'm going to pull the trigger on those sweet BST wheels.

For my set up I need a GSX-R spec rear BST and a ZX spec front BST.
Not a problem- you can buy them separately almost everywhere online.

Now... the question... why such big differences in the price tags?

First- I'm a huge fan of Brock's and have an Alien Head on my 14

Here's his price:
http://prostores2.carrierzone.com/servlet/brockracing/-strse-2443/BST-CARBON-COMPOSITE-CONVENTIONAL/Detail

Here's what Motowheels.com has for a price on ebay....
prices even lower on their own site
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p3907.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSI%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D15%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D54&item=270357632516&category=35601&viewitem=

Please, chime in on this. What's the way to go?
Thanks

Looks like a $3500 question to me! LOL
Personally, I would ask Brock to match the price.
At least your giving him a chance to get your business, and you KNOW the service will always be ther and will be right if he agree's.

I had the same issue on my links...Schnitz had them cheaper. Called Steve and they matched it. So +1 give Brock a call.

If you are a Brock's customer the price is cheaper than what they show in their online store...

Motowheels was the BST importer. I suspect they are just closing out what they have left. The dollar is worth less now so it costs Brock more to buy the wheels in 2009. LSL

I've already contacted Motowheels and they can go even lower.

I'm calling Brock's on Monday since I'd really want to get the set from him.

I know, I spoke with him about that a few weeks ago.....
Stan doesn't trust the skills of the local tuners, and the added cost of instal, along with tuning and .....

Stan is right though, and I have to give him props.... a turbo is a big step for some ppl if they have not been on the wrenches for years, or don't have local support they are confident with.
there is alot more to them than just bolting them on....
for example if you have never confidently experienced detonation and don't have a keen ear, a turbo can kill your motor in seconds

Personally I felt I know enough to possibly be dangerous on my own, but also went to great lengths to educate myself and seek professional services and advice where I am lacking in experience or knowledge... ie engine clearances , fuel system sizing, lubrication mods and issues with them etc.

Stan, I talked to Motowheels awhile ago...and just checked their website. No ZX-14 wheels left, front or rear.

It's not fair to expect a new dealer with the depreciating $
to match the leftover inventory on clearance from another dealer IMHO.
Not sure if that's the case, but seems like it.

I will give Brock's a call and discuss it on Monday.

Either way, the BST's are going to be a big investment for me
and I just want to make the right decision.

Good advice from the gang here as usual.
Thanks

if i am buying some expensive new technology wheels, i would make sure they could support the product in the future in case there was ever an issue. just my opinion.

well since were on wheels. I found that the zzr600 07 one i tried fit perfectly on the front of my 14. Its the same style as the gsxr 3bar wheel. The 14 rotors even fit on it. Same axle. The back is what im working on. The rear uses the same axle size as the 14 so no need to change the bearings. The main difference ive notice between the different kaw wheels is the brake hanger. The zzr6 use a narrow brake hanger that has the caliper on top of the swingarm. I here the zx12 wheel fits the 14 rear. I also tried the zx750 rear and i think its the same as the 12 axle size and also which works on the 14. Now what im going to try since the brake hanger is to narrow and different on the zzr. I think im going to try the 12 brake hanger and spacers. The zzr rims are lighter for sure. Dont know how much more. You can look and feel the difference in them. That would be a easy option than the gsxr wheel even if you had to make a small spacer. That zzr wheel is the same on the zx9 so you can get a 530 sprocket for it.

I have a 07-09 zx10/ zx6 front wheel
and a 07-08 gsx-r 1000 rear wheel on
my zx14. The front is the lightest oem wheel
and is around 3.5 lbs. lighter than the 14 wheel.
The rear gixer wheel on the zx14 can be seen
in Shane's and Dubious' build threads- a lot going on there.
