Engine blown
Hi newbie here..
Need some feed back from you guys here.Not sure either this problem only happens in my country but the number happened was increasing since last year.
For the owner feedback claimed that due insufficient engine oil had caused their engine blown during high speeding.Before that there no any warning light lit up.All the engine running stock with some mods like slip ons,air filter and pc3.As far i known it only happened to 06-07 models.The latest was yesterday during at speed 260-270 km/h.Owner said that he clocked around 5k km after last engine oil service.What make me felt shocked because he said no indicator light showing bike run with insufficient eng oil..
At the moment we still unable to open the engine yet due warranty claim procedure.Just curious is there any same problem out there cause by insufficient engine oil?bike total mileage arnd 25k km.

Under high load and RPM, if you oil stave any motor... it's toast before you can see or react to an oil pressure light.
You can however feel the power fade...as the bearings are welding themselves to the crank.
If you feel this... pull in the clutchand hit the kill switch, cause whats next is really bad. 
ZX14's are not overly prone to oil starvation if properly filled.

Not a common problem with the zx14 engine ... Since 2006 we have read about a few ( 3 or 4 ) with spun rod bearings .. I heard of one that spun a rod bearing while drag racing... But of all the drag races i know and race with no one has had a problem ..There are a few on this web site that top end race and i have not heard of a problem .. lets say you build 20,000 units and have lets say 5 units that fail it's not a wide spread problem ...Why did these unit spin bearing ? We may never know , could it be low oil ? Could it have been bad rod bearing clearences ? Could be cause by long wheelys ? We may never know what the real cause was ..

I've read of a couple of oiling related failures due to #3 rod cap being factory assembled backwards. I also read where on guy who liked to ride out long wheelies starved the sump and went kaboom.

Yes, if you do long, high wheelies, the oil drains to the back of the pan and it is not able to circulate. With a heavy load on the motor in this situation, there is not enough oil to properly lube the motor. I've heard of race cars having a similar situation when cornering. The g-force of a hard long curve holds all the oil to the side of the pan where it is not able to get picked up into the engine.
There is something about dry sump vs wet sump oil pumps that is supposed to compensate for this situation. I don't know enough about the two systems to explain them though.

A dry sump stores oil in an external oil tank. The oil is pump out of the tank by means of an external (electric) oil pump. The oil passes through the motor and falls back to the pan and sent back to the oil tank. Your crank isn't sloshing around in an oil level, which frees up power, and also your engine doesn't get starved of oil due to the oil pump always having a steady feed of oil from the tank, whether on a wheelie or not.
Pricey, but a sweet set-up.

thanks for the feedback guys...
If those bike were hard moddies then fine.But since the engine almost stock this keep worrying me.
Afraid if outside there any recalled regarding this engine oil problem like the cracked swingarm...
For those who loves to wheelie then shud be careful.otherwise endup with kaboom..
sometimes the failure of the cyclinder head during mass prod also cause this problem..that y asking if there any same prob happen outside there...

I would be looking for a detonation problem,as the heat builds so does the tendency for the motor to nock. On a long sretched out run the heat is great on combustion chambers. The 14's do show signs of detonation when they come in here''almost always. ................Bill

Managed to speak directly with owner today.
-No sign of oil level a he already checked it before rode.Confirmed was good level.
-Used Sikolene full syntethic with original kawa oil filter.
-He said the block was gives a big hole.Probably some of the valves hitted it i thk.
Will update some pics once get it.
Now he try for warranty since kawa here gives until 20k km....sighh..

They usually run like a raped ape right up until major failure. Back when i was first getting aquanted with NOS I put holes in several KZ motors and the numbers were always great right up till then.

Bill, Why..running cheap gas? Ign. Advancer like mine at 4degrees???
PM does not work. I read about members here running 87 gas for dyno runs and Drag Racing. I always use Shell 93 here in Texas but my 14 is a daily driver street bike.

Same on 2 strokes...
Every time I have heard stories of the motor pulling harder than ever before, motor was making awesome power and pulling harder than it ever had...
so they stayed in it cause it was fun.... until it stuck! LOL
If something seems different, and out of the ordinary , it usually is.... precaution should be headed ....
