Rickey Gadson wins SuperSport on 2009 ZX-14
The Final was Rickey Gadson and Farlie Hall ( both on Brock's Performance ZX-14's with engines built by Quantum Motorsports.)
Rickey’s bike arrived at my place 2 weeks ago. His WORST pass all weekend was a 9.07 and he is the largest rider in the class.. Best was an 8.99/157 in grudge testing on Saturday night. The semis were 3 ZX-14’s and 1 GSX-R1000.
Farlie ran a best of 8.96 in testing Friday. Farlie took out Jeremy Teasley in the semis on the Adams Performance/Monster Energy ZX-14.
Rickey had a better light and pass in the final--9.06 to a 9.18 (bogged off the line) for Farlie.
John Fernandez drove around Rickey’s turbo in SuperStreet in another ALL ZX-14 final. John ran a 7.83 at 188 MPH—chris Jones knows how to make BIG power with a turbo.

More comparable would be the 9.0's that Brock's diary bike turned. And that engine had not been opened...
Are the Super Sport rules that restrictive?

4.3.3.9.5 WEIGHT

Yamaha YZF-R1 2006 540

Honda CBR1000RR 2007 540
Up to 30 lbs. of ballast is allowed to be bolted to any part of the frame, sub-frame, or swingarm, as long as the entire ballast assembly is behind the vertical plane passing through the center of the swingarm pivot bolt. The ballast weight limit includes all components of the ballast assembly, including any bolts, brackets, or other hardware used to mount the assembly. Tech may require removal and weighing of the ballast assembly at any time during the event. It is the responsibility of the race team to remove the ballast assembly for these inspections, so the ballast assembly should be engineered in a fashion that will allow easy removal. Ballast must be placed in a single location. No distributing ballast in multiple locations.

Nelson I have asked that a few times and i get a different answer everytime ... One told me 16/41 and the other told me 17/40 ....I guess whatever gear works best for you is the best gear ... I'm going to try 17/40 on my bike because it seemed to work very well on Brocks 06 zx14 ...On the other hand i went 5.99 with the stock gears and with a 16/41 i went 6.03 ...Brock said he used 17/40 to keep wheels under controll ..

Guys,
I just walked out to the shop and checked, Rickey’s gearing its 17/40….the same as my Diary bike. This is because there isn’t enough room to install 39 tooth without the axle bottoming out in the back of the swingarm slot. The rules are VERY specific in Super Sport but we can still get some decent extra power out of the engine mods allowed. We are stock wheelbase and foot-shifting in SuperSport….the bike would run WELL into the eights (8.60’s or better) at 64” with 160 lb. Gadson riding. A fly weight (110 lbs!) rider like lil’Nick would make your head spin….he ran 8.57@159 on our stock engine 08 Busa at 64” at Valdosta last year.
2009 AMA/Dragbike 2009 SuperSport Rules
A 39 tooth would make the bike easier for him to ride without having to fight wheelies so much. Rickey is the largest rider in the class and we still had to add over 10 lbs. of lead to the swingarm to make the minimum weight of 680 lbs. measured at the end of the run. AMA/Dragbike has gone “green” with the addition of XXX F-118 Force race fuel as the spec. for the class. FYI: I was VERY impressed with the fuel during our brief testing as it performs almost as well as the expensive oxygenated versions we typically prefer. It’s about 20% ethanol, so the tuning is very different and no one really has much experience with it since last weekend in Valdosta was the first race using it. So, in a nutshell; he is 40 lbs heavier than my Diary bike and we can’t use MR9 or MR11 and he STILL ran an 8.99 in testing and won the event. We didn’t have time to install a Data logger so we tuned by instinct and he was still fast enough to win his first SuperSport national event since he rode for me in 2005.
Brock’s Performance 2005 season final report
FYI: This bike is a LONG way from being the perfectly tuned and perfected machine in the Diaries! Rickey will get faster as the season progresses. My 08 ZX-14 didn’t “loosen up” until 400+ miles on the dyno and RG’s bike is currently sporting 78 dyno/drag strip miles on the odometer.
Congrats to Bryan Snyder for building this engine/bike so quickly and beginning 2009 with a win after securing the SuperSport National Championship last year with Keith Dennis dominating the class on our 2008 GSX-R1000.
