How about the attendance in general? I'm figuring it's down about 50% over the earlier years. Last year, I was there and it was vacancy after vacancy all along A1A...

there was major traffic backups and lots of people around the speedway. don't have enough info to compare it statistically but friday was beautiful weather. my new garmin nuvi 265wt steered me around the traffic tho. i suppose the recession affects attendance negatively.

Hey big post more pics of you and the fine women there.
That is a cool pic you took of your bike, and you can see yourself in the mirror of the bike next to yours.
Was that intentional?

no i saw it afterwards and it kind of flipped me out, you never know what the lens sees. my nikon had a dead battery by the time i ran into the real scenery so the phone was the backup. the factory babes were all knockouts for sure. the first two are ducati girls and the second 4 are kawasaki girls.

I was there Tuesday and it was a DEAD ... I could have made a 140 MPH pass in front of the speedway no problem ... Years before the road was a parking lot for motorcycles .. The Vendor Midway was a Joke , nothing but HD Parts and NO sport bike parts ....The Hess station was dead , Dave said he was there at 8:00 and not a single bike showed up ...

I saw lots of closed Gas stations and hotels Ect ... Fact all the hotels parking lots were empty that day ....Two years ago you could not find a place to park anywhere !!! You couldn't even get a place to park in Deland ..... Signs of the times my friends ...

Was kind of sad. I watched the race last night on the Speed Channel, and the stands looked very empty.

Just one look at the Dow Jones and you will get the Big Picture. Our IRA and 401K has taken a Beating in the last 6 months. Lets see, pay my house payment or spend $$ going to see 600's race on a 200 MPH speedway. I watched Speed last night too, the riders do turn the small bikes fast in the turns. Open the track up and let the Big Bikes run around the banking like NASCAR.

It is down but I dont think its as bad as 50% down. Its hard to tell because it has been spread out over a larger area lately.

i heard the cops were running folks off at the hess station, hence the low attendance there. the place was filling up friday, i have never gone before the last 3 or 4 days. there were lots of bikes on the road friday coming and going. it was a 340 mile day for the 14.

Thanks for the pics.. takes me back to last year.

Last year my racing industry friend and a group went to bike week for the event. He lives in Fla. On the last day of bike week I went over to Dyno Drags and was going to have his son, Jon Jon, do the bike on the drag. There was no one else around, but at the last minute a 2 week old Haya showed up with pipes and PC III. My bike had about 1400 miles on it and was fully OEM.

Here is the video of it. Jon Jon won 3 of 3, and also had the fastest 1/4 mile time for the BIke Week 08. Jon Jon had two 8.5's and anotgher a little higher, in the 8's. Matt had a 10 something and two 9 somethings. It was a repeat for Jon Jon from 07 when he had the best 1/4 time then too!

After the third pull the announcer called out "Matt (guy on the Haya).. You've just been beaten for the third time by an 11 year old!"

Jon Jon was a ringer. He's been racing for a few years in his age group and apparently already has a 'contract' waiting for him when he turns 16.

Matt was a great sport. Beautiful Haya.

it was great meeting oldkawboy and his wife at the kawasaki tent, great people! the kawasaki display was first class. the bikes and apparel were plentiful. there was an auction that had jackets and helmets and other memorabilia at bargain bidding prices. too bad i don't have much storage space on the 14. my buddy terry took the kawi shirt and camera back on his st1300 pictured above.

The midway was down bad this year compared to past years...However I did get a chance to meet Brock on Wed. night at Hess station.....pretty cool, was out there about 9:30-10...place was packed. There were alot of vacant motels on A1A this year and parking a plenty, but it was still a fun time....Great time. Too bad I didnt have access 2 a computer the entire time i was down there so i could meet up with more people from the forum. Oh well, there will always be next year!

This was my 1st time going and I Rode Mine to and from NY.
I loved riding down Main St behind a cop car with my strobes on, that was 1 of my best Daytona moments.
My worst moment was trying to ride on the Beach.
I read they use to race on the beach, but I guess they don't make sand like they used to, LOL.
I'm still sorting through my pics more bikes than babes, but I through up a few when they finish uploading.

if you ride on the beach stay on the hard pack, i try to stay off the sand but you have to say you did it at least once. one year my buudy dropped his helmet into the surf during a beach ride. it was low tide for the rest of his trip.

I can say I did it for a few hundred feet, LOL.
One of the locals said because of the tide they pushed the traffic lanes further up on the beach.
