Just bought my 14 monday

I used to race a ZX6 and would leave at 8k rpm. Whats a good rpm to leave at on my 14?

It would help to know your weight and year of 14 and mods. but somewhere between 3500 and 4500 works for most.

If its all stock, especially height, 4000 is a good starting point like fish said

fish_antlers is The Big Cheese on Bikeland, your new and most members say Hello I'm new etc. There are some really experienced ZX-14 owners here and most do Drag Race.

Read and learn :-) I have been riding/Racing bikes for years and I have learned a lot about my 14 here. Welcome and have fun with your 14. Every bike is different and I have asked what seem to be stupid questions but they put up with it, well most of the time.

Congratulations!

depending on your weight, tire pressure, traction, wheelbase, and if you have it lowered...
3500- 5500 rpm
if its a 2006 pull the fly's.... hell I would on any of them...
the bike has mongo torque with the fly's out and you'll find a sweet spot where you can throw the clutch out and twist and it will torque through the rpm much more efficient than most could everdream of slipping a clutch...

Forget everything you learned about shift points and launch rpm on that 600,
the 14 has massive midrange which is awesome and controlable for the corners too...
Rarely did I ever hit a curve leaned over, above 7000 rpm.... no need .
Unless I am drag racing, Let the the thing pull, thats the forte of the 14.

If it's a G2 you got, might as well pull 'em when you get a chance. There is a slight improvement for street riding. I can definitely still feel the full torque hit at ~3000 rpm even with the flies out. I imagine the stock map is leaned down a bit below 3000rpm so I'm not getting as much fuel as I need to match the flies flies out throttling way down low. Still plenty.......but plenty is never enough as long as there's more to be had.
