Anything to be gained?

07 w/ flies out, pc, stock exhaust and air filter. Using as a sport tourer for 2 up. Would a custom map be worth it? I'm going to do a custom map on my Suzuki and since I have to travel 3hrs I thought I might bring the 14 too if it would be worth doing.

..My personal opinion I wouldn't spend that much money on a custom map without at least putting a exhaust. That would be my .02

When I pulled my flies out, I was on the dyno. With the flies out my air/fuel ratio was 18:1
I have heard of guys pulling the flies without a PowerCommander but I wouldn't.

Good question, I want to know the answer to this one also.
I have the dyno site map, but what would a custom map do for us with this setup?

Not sure about 07, but my 06 was very lean at the 3,500 rpm area before mapping.
Right where I cruise.
Not 18:1, more like high 13's to 16's depending on throttle position, etc.
Looked on as the dyno tuner did my bike.
Wonder if the A/F ratio would be even close to what is going on in motor with cats and air valve to exhaust ports?
Probably would have to weld fitting to header collector up steam from cats.

+1 and you could try a map for flies out/pipe before the tune if the pipe maker has maps.

Seriously +1! I'd just sell the PC if you're getting a new full exhaust system.

^^^Nah, he would want to map for a full exhaust so he would need to keep his PC. Could get a nice free map if you go with Brock's though. You want something quieter, I think Brock's got something on the quieter side if that's what you like about the stockers. Might find a good deal on a used pipe.

(I think we all want to rid the world of stock pipes - lol)

Really, I don't think you're going to find anything quieter than the stock and you do hang on to the full bottom end torque which might be handy for street riding take offs two up.

+ 1 Either put the fly's back in or load a slip on map with fly's out.( like I have) Look again at the K&N Power Commander map site for a fly's out map with stock exhaust. If you really want to keep your ZX Quiet with stock exhaust and you are Never going to chage the exhaust, have the ZX mapped( you removed the fly's) while you have you other bike done. Do Not sell the PC. Have the tuner burn you a cd of your custom maps.

i put 8,000 miles on my bike with no flies and no pc3. i just made sure that i didn't stay at 3500-3900 rpm's. i also went 1.58 and 6.40 at 4000ft with the stock cans. nothing wrong with stealth mode... but i looooooove my brocks gen3 shorty. you should look into a streetsmart system and beetle bags for your ultimate sport tourer.

I do have the flies out map in, but more smoothness, less heat,
better throttle response etc., would be nice. Having two bikes with completely different sound levels I find the 14 more relaxing. I see Vance&Hines is making quiet systems for HD's. I would like to lose the weight of the stock system but not the quiet. Maybe I'll do a pull just to see where the 14 is at.

with no mapping, mine put down 166.5. the dyno guy said that that particular dyno was a little stingy, but i would suspect to be somewhere in that area.
