BODY ARMOUR

What brand of body armour are you road racers wearing?

I've beening looking at Forcefield body armour. It is light, effective, and apparently very breathable. The downside is Forcefield armour is quite expensive conpared to Teknic armour (my leathers are Teknic). Backpad is $125 vs. $30 and a jacket kit with hip pads are $215 vs. $90 (without hip pads). The Forcefield armour has gone through CE certification which is very expensive and adds cost to the finished product. I understand you usually get what you pay for however, the Teknic armour isn't junk is it?

After a little hospital stay and 3 months of painkillers, hospital bed and physical therapy I suggest going with the best.
My CE stuff saved me from MUCH MUCH worse.
Go try the stuff on if you can. If it dont fit or is very uncomfortable move on.
I got a spine protector that I should wear when I know I'm gonna be riding at speed on back roads.
but its so cumbersome i only wear it at the track.
Dont do Me any good hanging in the shop!!

Just replace all your foam armor crap with the real deal. I was just having this same talk with my local ZX-14 buddies and like I told them, crashing at 160mph on the highway will only keep my body intact for the funeral. I still wear full gear all the time but I don't go money crazy on buying race gear for the streets.

I wear my Teknic Chicane leathers on the dragstrip as well as the twisties. I just take the pucks off at the strip. For normal riding or even a little more aggresive stuff I usually have my Joe Rocket mesh/armor, boots, and jeans.

I never wear additional body armor that what's already in my gear.

Dainese 2 piece, Flanker Jacket/ Delta Pant (ok, I did put back protector in the jacket)
Teknic Chicane 2 piece, perforated Jacket/ Sport Pant (for the hot weather)
Alpinestar One-On-One with Jeans or Icon Hooligan Canvas pant for casual rides
Teknic Sprint Jacket and pant (for cold weather touring)
Plus assortment of other MotoGP, First Gear etc. pieces.
Always wear boots and quality gloves.

Hell, wife always questioned justification of my closet full of gear, so I bought assortment of gear for her as well and now she is happy...........to go riding with me few times a year
You have only one body, you'd better protect it the best way you can, allways.
