Yes, it is a great piece and a great price. Streetable too.
I'm at 500 passes on clutches right now using it.

I have one I'll be installing shortly........I've heard nothing but good about them, and I've never come across a better guy to deal with than Dave, the owner of Cycle-Logic

Best deal I've seen is to get it from Cycle Logics on their ebay store..

What benefit are you seeing from the lock up? Any more mph compared to standard springs, when on motor?

For me, being an every weekend bracket racer, my #1 reason was for extended clutch life (500 passes on this set). Second reason was for the consistency it offers (most runs on any given night are often within thousandths of each other). 1-2 MPH extra on the top-end was just an added bonus.

I've been thinking about getting one, but I'm not too familiar with how you launch with one installed. About what rpm do you launch at and do you have to slip the clutch or does the lock up do it for you? Bolt on and no adjustments?
Or would I be better off to use Brock's springs and spacers?

You can launch the CL at any rpm since it is a single stage. It is bolt on, no adj. The thing with a lockup is the engine spinning any rpm will not make it lockup. It is the input shaft to the tranny that the clutch hat is on that locks it up. As long as you have the lever in you can spin it to the rev limiter with no problem, but when you let the lever out and the clutch hat speed picks up to about 8000 rpm the lockup is in force.
There are different reasons for using a lockup and the lightweight riders would probably not see much benefit if they use hd springs and spacers.

Is it accurate to say that by adding weight you effectively lower the rpm at which a single stage locks up?
I think it is possible to tune a single stage on some bikes. We have a Busa that the prior owner tuned to just throw the lever at 6500 rpm, stock wheelbase.

Yes adding weight to the arms lowers the lockup speed but at the same time increases the lockup pressure on the clutches too at higher rpm. The Cycle Logic kit does not come with any adj. features but it could be done easily I bet.

You mean you can't add or remove weight??
Like on our Busa MTC setup you add/subtract weight from the arms and change and/or shim the springs...

Thanks for the information kawasakijockey. Since I'm a lightweight, I don't think I'll opt for the HD springs and spacers. I think I'll get myself a cycle logic lockup.

No springs on the CL, just weight. The bolts arent long enough to add anymore weight as it comes and the weight is a collar instead of shims.
Should have stated also that high horsepower will drive through the stock clutches and at that point it is absolutely necessary to have a lockup.

The springs aren't on the lock up, persay...they go where your standard springs go....you just vary the strength or shim them to add preload.
So, when you change your springs you are changing your static pressure. And then by altering the weights (if so equipped), you are changing how quickly the lockup goes to work.
Anyway, that is my basic understanding. And again, that is for the MTC we have on the Busa.
In the case of what you are describing, you could run stock springs for easy control and then let the lock up hold the power up top....but that is all I see it being useful for.

I may also go that route. I already have the quick access cover installed. It would probably work well for the nitrous I am adding.
On the other hand, I thought of just running the heavy springs. I have big hands and the control isn't that bad...but definitely had some wheelie problems when I tried the heavy springs last year. And then burnt my clutch up from dragging the clutch to avoid them..

I installed the CL lockup to keep from burning up my clutches as my phat ass tends to put a little drag on the bike (clutches) on the top end. With just a clutch change (to included HD springs) and lockup addition, I gained alot of pull on my top end.
The CL lock-up is nicely made and simple to install. If anyone is thinking about get a lock-up clutch, I recommend this one, as I have about 3000 miles on mine and am absolutely happy with it. Seems like I got it off of ebay for $250-ish.....

Odered CL lockup kit today($284.85) . Should be here Thrusday.
Is there a down side (or up side) to clutch life running HD springs vs stock springs with CL lockup?

I'm currently trying to setup a single stage lockup on my ZRX so I can just thow the lever and hold it wide open. You would be surprised just how little weight it takes for the lockup to work.

I am strectched, 16/43 gearing, 350lbs, footshifting.....before the lockup, I ran it up to 5k and went WOT while dumping the clutch. As long as the tire was hot, it hooked like all get-up. I have to lower my rpms to launch so I don't break the back tire loose. The lockup with HD springs definitely has a shorter clutch pull/release, but overall, I very much like the addition.

Off topic, but saw where you wanted to regear to 18/49. Why go up in the front then go up in the rear as well? I'm sure I'm missing something there, just was curious
