Shorty Gen3 review
I probably e-mailed back and forth with brock at least 25 times over the past 3 months with questions about exhausts. I wanted a gen3 shorty but my primary reason for getting an exhaust is to go faster at the dragstrip. I was very torn between the smeg, and the shorty but was most likely going to end up with the smeg when I saw that Smokin had a conversion for sale in the classifieds. Now we're talking! I finally got my income tax money and ordered the shorty because I could have it for the street and the smeg for the track. After riding with both of them on the bike I can tell you that There is VERY little difference if any power wise. The shorty hands down sounds better. It has a nice deep tone, and when you get on it the thing barks. At the same time, when just cruising around it is nice and mellow and the cops around here haven't so much as looked at me (with the exception of one that complimented my bike on base).
I'll go take some better pictures after i get some batteries for my camera. These were taken with my phone.

Thanks for the info. I like the gen3 as the Alien head my friend has is just Too loud for long trips. If Shane does not sell his M14 I think I will spend my refund $$ like you have. Why would someone sell a smeg to go with a Alien head? The smeg has a baffle you can remove?

Steve had the Gen 3 on his zx14 and sounded real sweet ... I wanted a Gen 3 for my 09 zx14 but a smeg came up at the right price ..I don't find the Smeg to loud on the street as long as i don't ring it out ...

Looks great!
Those 3 hours it took to install it were well spent.
I hope to make it down to S.D. in the spring to ride around, and check out the sites.
I'll let you know when so I can hear it first hand.

Ha that is exactly what I just did. I bought the smeg becuase I thought that I would want to remove the baffle at the track, but since it makes no more power with it out I dont see any reason to make more noise than is needed. And if drag your legs when launching you will like any added clearence you can get so you dont burn your leg on the pipe. The alien head is a bit narrower. I think the smeg sounds great. Hopefully the alien head sounds as good.

The Street Megaphone or "smeg" is a lot quieter than the short meg or "Shmeg". I'll take some video this weekend of the shorty and post up on here. I got on it pretty good in the canyon straight on the way to my house tonight and holy shit. I can't wait to get this thing to the track and see what kind of times I'm able to put down with it. I just really kind of hate it that I didn't squeeze the absolute most out of my 16t front sprocket before I added more power. I'm not a very big fan of adding power until I can use all of what I've already got.
