I know on my old busa the sport touring screen was worth about 1 to 1.5 mph in the 1/4 because I could tuck behind it better.

You can get your head out of the windstream on a 14 completely by looking down and to the left about 20-30 yds before the finish line. Good for about 1mph.

where was the zx14 when I was in 3rd grade....... that's the only way I could have competed. I guess all the small guys are getting me back for what I did to them during dodgeball and football now. They are just way faster! haha

Since he is riding an 08 zx14 the bike has to weight 680 pounds with rider.. 06 and 07 bikes get to run 670 pounds in Super sport ... If i remember right he had to add 25 to 30 pounds to the bike to make weight .. They changed the rules this year so the busa and Zx14 can tun two inch ground clearance like the 1000s do .. He was running 3 inch last year , so he should be a bit faster this year ...Remember this bike has a super sport package , milled head, deg cams , run XXX racing fuel , trick wheel bearings and trans bearing and most likely a few things we will never know about .. And lets not forget a good skilled rider ..

I don't think i could pull it off without going into the engine ( big bore or stroker ) But i'm going to play with my 09 and see how close i can get on the stock motor ..I'm thinking with good air i might pull off a 9.teen .. The stars will all have to be inline to make that pass ..

The truth is that the conditions when Farlie made that pass were less than ideal too. It was around 70 degrees and about 85% humidity with a poorly prepped track. Being swb may not have been a traction issue with him. We did have a tail wind for a short time that turned into a nasty cross wind later. I think he made that pass during the crosswinds.

9.18 @ 152 only tried it a few times ( maybe two trips to the 1/4 mile ) Brocks Smeg , street map , 89 fuel , stock air filter , flys in place , stock gears , stock chain, stock tire ... Pretty much as stock as you can get .. The 09 is running 6.10 @ 123 so it should run 9.20s .. It has just a pipe and no P/C ...

I'd like to see a 14 with big power adder and swb. I bet you could see 8.50's, with no class rules to follow.

Racheals Turbo Busa has been 8.80's stock wheelbase on 1.5x 60 foots...145 lb. unsuited rider. That's without a multi-stage....and the bike is heavy.

Shane

What Lee is not telling you is that he weighs 100lbs, suited. And, the track he races at in Florida is a Metric track. Their 1/4 mile is actually only 1000 feet.

The first 660 feet are 10% ..I dug under the track for the last 660 feet to get an extra 2 % slope ... It was hard work seeing that i did it with a Tea spoon and had to haul out the dirt a pocket full at a time so not the get caught .. I also most got caught because Rick ( the guy on pinks ) allmost fell in the tunnel .. My falt because i only had the tunnel covered with left over turd paper from the track bathroom ... I thought the smell of the turd paper would act as a warning not to go near the tunnel ..Little did i know that Ricks upper lip smelled like shit so he didn't smell the old turd paper ...I got to tell you it's hard work trying to go fast ...
