So, I decided to leave my flies in for now, but I need a map for Yosh slip ons, K&N, and flies in. I using one that is maybe close, I need some dry roads to test it out.

quote: Idles a bit faster. Seems to me the bike idled at more like 1100rpm before flies out. Now I noticed the bike idled at about 1400rpm. Temp gauge was at 4 bars when I checked so I don't think it would have been on fast idle. More air = more fuel = faster idle? Not too big of a deal. I can adjust the idle speed back down if I want and I don't think 1400 is way fast for idle anyway.
No. Must have been a fluke. The bike idles normal. Perhaps it was not running long enough to get out of fast idle when I checked earlier. Fly removal had no effect on idle speed.
quote: I heard numerous owners state that the throttle sensitivety was deminshed to the point that they would not recomend fast cornering throttle ups/downs because the bike was too jumpy. Also heard the bike zipped ahead openning up into second and third which made riding in traffic dangerous. ALL I CAN SAY IS NOT ON MY BIKE. Throttle sensitivety has not changed at all.
Throttle sensitivity is the same as always. No more dangerous than it was flies in. I will say this however, if you take flies out be a little careful taking a turn at low speed. There is this one corner by my house and I because of traffic and stoplights I often go into it decelling with the throttle closed. I then open a little to continue through the curve. I'm noticing the back wheel now feels like it wants to fishtail under light throttle at this curve. Nothing a little clutch modulation won't solve. Have to get used to that.
My Kaw Vulcan was not the smoothest on and off throttle without using the clutch and the 14 isn't either. With the flies out, there's enough extra power at low speed to get you in trouble if you hang a sharp right. So get used to using some clutch if you don't already.

This thread is of great interest here...I've got an 08. Pulled the flies and installed a PCIII, Hindle 4-1 with CF can, K&N filter. Running the zero map gave me a very (dangerously) lean condition. I have been unable to source a map for the exact components/mods for my application yet, but a map I got from a member of this forum has been installed and the bike now runs a bit richer. So far I have not noticed any difference between flies in and flies out. I've found a dyno tuner and will post the results (and maps if anyone wants one) once hes gone through my bike.
Interesting thing happened during my winter storage....I broke with tradition (got lazy) and left the battery in my bike (in my heated garage) and it went dead. Seems the pc lost the maps?? as when I started it up, after 2 mins of idling I was seriously freaked out to see all 4 header pipes literally cherry red!
Thus far, with no tuning and no proper mapping, absolutely zero difference in performance flies out compared to flies in.
2008 ZX14
Lots of Carbon, 16/44 PCIII SpeedoHealer, K&N, flies out, Hindle CF 4-1, Heli bar risers, Soupys lowering links.
