first ride
Just wanted to share my ride today, as I have been posting the last few rainey days here I have installed a pcIII and extended it 8 1/2".also went 16T and 43T rear. It quit raining for a hour or so I went for a little ride and I can't wait til I sat for the track!!! No more wheelies on the road, but the only problem I have is the exhaust and oil pan is bottoming out. It is on the 3rd hole in the rear and lowered 1 1/4" in front, but my strap isn't pulled down yet. Will tightening the spring in the rear be enough or am I going to have to buy another rear spring? Also, the suspension settings, do they need to be screwed in all the way front and rear??

the rear spring in the 14 is NOTORIOUSLY soft.
Several of us have been to pro suspension tuners just to be told there's nothing to be done except replace it
edit---> my post is in regards to my suspension tuner's comments is all about setting it up for the turns!

Set your rear shock ... turn in both upper and lower adjustors to seat then back them of a half turn .. That should do the trick , if not only go a 1/4 turn out from seated .. I have mine set at 1/4 turn .. Next make a plate to go under the tail , steel or alum will work ... Use the 3 holes that held on your mad flap to install ....The tire will rub the plate just a little on hard leaves but will keep you from burning a hole in the under tail .... Use a shinko 003 190 tire , it's a bit shorter and will not rub as bad as a tall stock tire .. If you are 200+ plus pounds you may need to go back up to the middle hole on the shock or a stiffer spring .... I know more than one guy at 200+ pounds using the stock shock drag racing with no problems...If you are 250 pounds all bets are off ...

I weigh 200 in shorts, thanks smokin! So. On the rear shock turn both the top and bottom all the way in then back 1/4 turn out? Does that go for both screws (inside and outside).. What about the front suspension? Can I turn both all the way in then back out 1/4? The front settings is still stock. Just so were on the same page when I say "both" I mean the two adjustments on each frint side and on the rear all 4 adjustments.

So. On the rear shock turn both the top and bottom all the way in then back 1/4 turn out? ( YES ) Does that go for both screws (inside and outside).. ( Inside screw )
If you are going to use a strap on the front end you need NOT make any adjustment to the front shocks ..If you are not going to use a strap ( crazy if you don't ) You can turn the top center screw in 2 to 3 clicks and that will help some ( Drag strip only setting ) Return to 5 clicks out for street riding .. You can leave the rear shock setting ( 1/4 turn out ) for riding on the street ..

oops - I had to edit my first post. Lee I didn't even think about the damping and rebound effects possible with the stock shock for the drag strip....

While I'm asking stupid questions ill ask one more, would it help or hurt me to tighten the rear spring?and if it would help how much?? I assume it would make the rear a lot rougher ride, but that's not my num 1 concern... I do understand you need some give, oor would it be better to leave the spring alone and just lift the rear end?

Adjust the dampering first and give it a try ...If it doesn't completely fix the problem you can tighten the spring .. It will not make it much stiffer but will raise the rear some ..
